I flew the SBH into HER. Does that count for anything? I also wanted to fly to RAR on miles only acquired by flying uniTED. Never made it though. |

Ha! She wasn't with me on that trip. I did however go to Shell beach in St. Barts. Kinda ironic along the same lines. Although, don't think shell_nyc was there.

Edited to add -- do they have same day connections from PIT now? Or do you still have to overnight it in EWR?

If prospective rock-shoppers want contact info for an excellent jeweler in St. Thomas, feel free to PM me. This guy's work is superb (flawlessly replicated a Tacori setting for me that's very intricate). GIA Certs are provided for all rocks. I paid about 45% of what a comparable ring would have cost in the mainland U.S. (verified quality of stones/materials by independent appraisal). After flights (x2) to STT, as well as three nights hotel at the Westin St. John, I still came out ahead.

Nope, the flight leaves EWR at like 0745 so we will fly out of PIT the night before. Not only is it a great deal at $335 round trip, but they are using the 752 on the route as well. Quite the snowbird escape in February!
The 752 will be sweet, but be aware that route sells some serious F seats in the wintertime to the NYC-SBH monied crowd. Think PBI, but more affluent. For the EWR overnight, I suggest bucking up and taking the $18 cab ride to whatever hotel you are using if you get in late. The 6ish flight out of PIT is usually delayed an hour, and the 8ish flight is usually delayed 2-3 hours, so you don't want to play the late night 15 minute wait for the Airtrain plus the 20 minute wait for the hotel shuttle at midnight when you have to turn it around to catch the 6am shuttle back. The CO flight in will be the first major flight in, so you can get over to Maho the same day and see the rest of the major airline planes. B6 will be early, along with a smattering of AA flights. The real fun is when the AF 340 shows up midafternoon. The US 757 is one of the last ones of the day. If the SSBB is open, they will post the flight schedule and tune in ATC. And when they say don't stand in the jet blast on the beach for departing aircraft, they really mean it. Mrs. Mudder has been bugging me to go back, and now your cheap deal has me looking up flights. |
