While my name is long, it isn't THAT hard to spell (she did finally figure out how to spell her sisters name so I feel good about the edukatun she's getting).

baglady isn't that hard to spell is it?;)

Night, Box. Tons of fresh new iPod stuff to get thru.

In keeping with our education theme this evening, my wife just informed me that her school district announced today that they are likely to reopen all contracts and deduct five days of pay to offset the California budget deficits. And, even more fun, they may have to cancel school after February 1. Good times.

The Box was rather productive this evening. I took the evening off (even though I had client business I still need to get done) and left Beaumont behind to meet friends for dinner in Houston. Now I'm back at the hotel in Beaumont. This place is so . But at least the Hilton Garden Inn here is pretty decent.

Me, too. I went to a high school that was, for a long time, one of the top 10 in the country. At least that's what we were told. I learned the all-important skills of writing a paper about books I hadn't read, recycling content from previous years thanks to older siblings/cousins, manipulating schedules and teachers and generally getting what I wanted without having to pay too much for it. I also had to get a job if I wanted gas/beer money (working for my father's company, but it was real work). After that, college was pretty easy. There were a few papers that were turned in again verbatim, and I often got a better grade the second time around.

Morocco is high on my list of places to visit... but not before I make it back to South Africa. It's a shame getting to Africa is so inconvenient, as there's quite a bit of it I'd like to see:

Tanzania (Game Parks, Zanzibar)
Mozambique (Beaches)
Namibia (Skeleton Coast, Namib Desert)
Madagascar (Lemurs, Karst Formations)
Uganda (Gorillas)
Zambia (Victoria Falls)
Kenya (Great Rift Valley)
Ethiopia (Highlands, Rock Churches)
Algeria (Oran)
Morocco (Everything from the Sea to the Atlas Mountains)
Egypt (Of Course)
Djibouti (Just because it has a funny name)

All high on my list, too. I also want to hike Kilimanjaro.

Morning Box!

I added our first COEX (CHQ) flights to the PBFM this week.

The FA asked how long I'd worked for the airline  after giving the row 12 speech.... dunno where that came from (and I wasn't even wearing my Continental boxers that day!)

Good Morning Box.

That's good. We were told the same thing too. I doubt my school is in the top 10 in the state these days.

Do you have one of those CO luggage tags that the employess use? I stopped using mine because the crew thought I worked for them and would always read my tag and seeing that I live in NJ confirmed in their minds that I work for them. Oh and I also got me crap service on other airlines if they saw the tag.

No - I have some of those, but had my Indians luggage tag on my backpack - which was already stored in the overhead.

The whole thing was just kind of humorous. :)

I am a proud graduate of the public school system, including Miami University here in Ohio. I think it prepared me well, though my biggest complaint about Miami, and I think they have changed it, is the lack of business classes for non-business majors. They required everyone to pass account and calc before taking biz class and did not offer basic finance, economics and the like.

After school I gave some speeches at inner city schools and was simply shocked at what I experienced. It was worse than any movie and left me very bitter towards our local "leadership."

But did reality have a soundtrack?

ALCO, many thanks for finding an item for our registry. I love lamb, and tagines look so cool that I don't care if my fiancee doesn't eat lamb.

Glad to help. Like I said, they cook about the same as a French or Dutch oven, but they do look much cooler. FYI, I find that Emile Henry brand to be better all-around than Le Creuset.

Morning, Box. :D On the agenda today: "Paul Blart - Mall Cop".

While I too am a proud public school product, I was bitter toward local leadership long before graduating college. High school did nothing to prepare me for the real world, and neither did the first few years fo college. My professors at the bachelor's level really put the "liberal" in "liberal arts" and were not realists on any level. I think what did it to me early on was seeing the principal's daughter get Student of the Month. Gee, I wonder. But to be fair, I was part of the TV production program at my high school, and it was pretty much universally despised because our teacher was a completely unfiltered human being. Could be where I get it from.
