Still, 3 of them agreed. I usually do a ORD-MSP-meeting-OMA meeting/night-MSP-ORD every other week to save the company money. But with these changes at the OMA station, I'm going back to ORD-MSP-ORD day trip on NWA (only expensive one more month) and day trips ORD-OMA ORD on UA instead.

More nights at home! ^^

Well, it looks like we have a rough few months ahead of us. The CO/NW divorce is turning ugly.

At check in this morning in OMA, NWA refused to give me First Class and rebook me for free since "we are now Delta and Delta has no deal with CO".

Asked to see a supervisor and he agreed to except me from the 50 dollar same day rebooking fee (free for NWA Elites, paging Mr. O'Leary). In MSP, the GA laughed and told me the OMA check in lady was full of it and of course put me in F MSP-ORD.

Please don't blame that on NW - blame it on OMA :D (I'm allowed to make these jokes - I was born and raised in NE and know what the GAs are like at OMA)

Actually, the GA I have had a few times lately, Autumn (yes, Autumn) is really nice and cute.

And that guy who takes your roll aboard on the jet way is also quite the character.

I have never interacted with NWA check in till today, they are not so friendly

Just blame it on Obama, surely it is his fault.

No. I avoid MSY like the plague during Mardi Gras. The Significant Otter and I are going to Stuttgart and Strasbourg, instead.

This is a very good trip. Also, there are FTers in Alsace who are very active and will show quite a bit of hospitality to a distinguished guest (that is until I tell them who you are ;))

There are some good GAs there so I really don't mean to lump them all together but OMA has some, um, training to do in some areas as well. I've had issues with more than one airline's GAs. I used to fly out of there almost every week; now I'm fortunate to have that cut back to a few times a year. But at least you can buy Omaha Steaks before you fly!

I went to Omaha Prime downtown Omaha for dinner last night with the clients, great steaks and decent prices.

Try to not spend any time at the airport, a few trips back, I had time and wanted to get some breakfast at the cafe in the secure area where NW and CO flies out of. I asked the lady working there if the bagels were made the same morning, she replied yes.

Well, they were at least 3 days old. I asked her again and she said that they were cut the same morning

Hyatt is worse. It has no properties in IA, ME, MS, MT, NE, NH, ND, OR, SD, UT, VT, WV & WY.

Yep, there are a ton of cities in the 150,000-500,000 population range that neither brand has a single location in. Yet there will be multiple Marriott, Hilton, and Intercontinental locations, usually ranging from full service all the way to the more economy oriented brands. Just as an example, consider Lubbock (since I'm so familiar with the town). It's got a population over 250,000, and quite a few hotels, and a lot of business generated by the presence of a major university. Hilton has four locations (Hampton, Hampton Inn & Suites, Homewood, and Embassy Suites), Marriott has three locations (Courtyard, Fairfield, and Residence Inn), there's a few Holiday Inns including one full service hotel downtown (even though it's a complete dump) and a Staybridge Suites, Choice has a few locations, and you can hardly drive five miles without passing at least one La Quinta. Starwood? Nothing, even though it's the perfect size for something like a Four Points, element, or aloft. Hyatt? Nothing, yet a Hyatt Place would do quite well.

That's just one example, but it's quite typical of many cities.

They didn't, until the Aero Guacamoles started courting them as a US gateway. Not sure what's nastiest — IAH B-84, AUS South Terminal, or the temporary terminals at BPT and LCH.

I never eat at the cafe; I'll get water but that's about it! Yikes - talk about nasty; old bagels.

If you need any restaurant recommendations for OMA, feel free to PM me.

that Starwood doesn't have a lot of hotels in ID, MT, NE, ND, WV and WY is not that strange, but they could at least cover cities with 150K+ people.

Hilton has like 15 properties in Omaha. I think one of them used to be a Sheraton (??)

monitor Jan 30, 2009 3:04 pm

Until last year, Starwood had quite a while without any presence at all in the million plus market of Louisville, KY. Now it has one with a rather plain conversion to a Sheraton across the river in Indiana, although they claim to be building a Westin downtown. Even if the construction has been approved and out of the ground, in this atmosphere, I will believe that it will be a brand new hotel only when I see it opening its doors.

Yep, most of the Heights is dry. It's just about the only place in town that is. I think it dates back to when the area was not part of Houston, but was its own incorporated city (Houston Heights).

Thanks, will do!

Needless to say, I didn't eat the bagel. I did what Kramer did when he said "Look at this, I haven't had a decent Sandwich in years". I think I said something like "look at this, my leftover bagels from Sunday are fresher than this" I threw them on the counter and left.

Maybe I should have said "look at this. I get fresher bagels in the RCC" :D
