I flew on 1676 and 1776 often for the last year and 1/2. Bump opportunities were aplenty on IAH-PHL on Sunday evenings. The only time the plane was empty was the Sunday before New Year's 2007-2008. Not only were the bump opportunities there, they had to coax people w/ $500 vouchers at times.

I have heard that the VDB's on those two flights go as high as $400-500 in addition to hotel and guaranteed F on Monday morning because 1776 is just as jammed as 1676. I'll be happy with $300 and a seat on 1776, but I'll be coocoo for Cocoa Puffs if I can get more.

ETA: Per seatcounter, it looks like the back of the bus is zeroed out for both of those Sunday flights. A9 with EUA yet to run.

You heard right. And you may just be able to get more!

As an aside to those golds and silvers, 1776 is loaded w/ plats. As a gold, I never got an upgrade, even on higher restricted fare tix.

Last time I was on 1776, I was #12 on the list as a Plat on a cheap fare.

That flight seems to be profitable for CO. I was able to get an EUA for 1776 on a Monday evening flight and the Sunday before New Year's 2007-2008 (December 30, 2007). There were only 8 in F on that flight.

1676 on 2/8 is a 20-seat F 738. Not sure if that's an omen or an affront to the Bump Gods.

IAH-PHL is probably considered internally to be something of an oil route thanks to the refineries and such right across the river.

That's common here in the truck capital of the country.

I think the only law in Texas (as of last year) is that you can't have kids back there. Anybody else is fine.

On another note, my Sunday flight IAH-SFO is also looking packed in the back and in the front so maybe I will get the option then? Time will tell!

Wait, which flight are you on? I'm flying to SFO on Sunday as well and i'm on 1566.

Don't count on that. Those 20-seaters are the biggest tease. They have a tendency to vaporize. If the back is full and the front isn't, there is a high chance, they'll sub it for a 16-seater and take the extra seats in the back.

Not sure if this has been posted yet in THE BOX but it should be. FREE VODKA

you do need to be sitting within the truck, not on the top edge or hanging over the sides, the occupants ca get ticketed for being stupid.

That reminds me not to fly SU; I'll fly AF or something if I can ever make it to SVO.

In other news, I just received an early upgrade to Marriott Rewards Gold courtesy of the FT Marriott Concierge. :D
