You were in ABQ?

If you're not delayed by military exercises in the afternoon you're delayed by wayward hot air balloons in the morning. This city is so bizarre.

Im at the ABQ DL Skyclub right now

And there is nothing wrong with that. Gives you more time to find better seats and you can use your BD miles and a one-way reward to get there. :)

As I said, it's very tempting. :)

I have my heart set on SCL (almost typed SLC - yikes!) and CPT for "big trips" next year, so I'm not sure there will be time for both of us to return to Asia until 2011.

A year or so ago I had my own experience with them. I had just arrived RNO in a friends 172 and we were taxiing to the ramp. Ground control pulled us off the taxiway so two F-16s could pass. We parked and got out. We were then waiting on the ramp for a ride to the GA terminal when the two F-16s took off. They passed within about 400 feet of us. They needed only a short distance of runway to take off. Then they raised their gear and continued down the runway at about 10'. At the end, they pulled back shot straight up into the sky. They went vertical for probably 20k feet or so. It was amazing!

I'd kill for a breeze here in August.

I had a similar experience in a 152, we were on the taxiway holding short of the runway when the F-16s took off in front of us.

I got my hopes up when I saw the "Lounge" signs at ABQ. After walking the terminal, I confirmed my thought that no carrier actually has a lounge there. I think their tacky restaurant set up is their excuse for a "lounge".

Got in Sunday. Did you get an enchilada at Cervante's?

If anyone in the Box is ever in ABQ there's a good chance I'm either there, on my way, or returning...

+1 but a nice beach getaway would be good too.

I spent a week on AXA watching the jumbos take off from SXM. It was interesting watch them do the climb over the mountain. The weather was just fine in the beginning of June, hot, but fine. I don't know if I technically set ground on SXM as I went over in a boat and never left the restaurant at the dock which may or may not have been on dry ground.

^ I found out last night while playing around that the in camera HDR doesn't give you the weird looking HDR's that most people of when they think of HDR's It gives you photos with good lighting all around.

The max performance takeoff climb is fun to watch, absolutely. Post 9/11 I saw a few of those a day because we had reporters flying in back seats in an F-16D. I really should burn that tape to DVD so I don't lose it...public affairs put out a compilation of all the visits. Among the highlights are a reporter from PHL puking right before landing and Lester Holt getting 7 G's applied to him over WAS. Lots of really good rear-seat footage of midair refueling too. The wing commander personally flew many of the reporters, and he was kind enough to only let the climb go to 7,000 feet, for their sake. But rather than nosing the jet forward to end the climb he'd roll it over and pitch forward/down while inverted just to mess with the visitor's head.

You could always go US->CPT->ICN and use the ticket back. Think of the FM lines!

Actually, it may be worth pricing out CPT->ICN/Asia to see if it's cheaper to do it that way then flying back.
