CoCo asks even if I tell them I am in exit row, Yes Yes NO. one of them flew with me a few times she said, wait I am asking in different order today :D

Mainline, I have had them ask every time even if not waiting for a reply, today he asked TWICE.
Also have to say, since DEN incident, they have waited for an answer every time. I think that really hit home the safety aspect for many FAs(and no doubt passengers sitting in the exits too)

Forget about AMS. Three weeks notice to a new boss is not enough in a case like this and AMS will still be there when the time is right for you.

Grandma's birthday will not be so get down and back taking the least possible amount of time off and let him know right now that you have a non-refundable ticket and she is very old. You are giving him sufficient notice and if he doesn't have some feeling for that, he is probably not someone you want to work with long term.

Agree on the second part, but I'm not so willing to forgo AMS yet, because with the job being a seasonal position the start date might end up being a non-conflict.

Just book the ticket and be done with it. It's a short trip and a part time job. What are they going to say? You can't hold up your life looking for work in case you find a job.
