In those days it left from AIY and the Allegheny Commuter used those lovely Twin Otters.

Great Circle calls AIY 55 miles and ACY 46 miles. SNA-LAX was 30-something...36, maybe? I still have the thread about US dropping its shortest flight in my subscriptions because I found it such interesting reading.

Are you on for June 13th? My fiancee booked to join me today. :D ^

It's sad when you have to explain jokes based on one's handle to one's spouse. :(

Night box.

I have no idea who it was, but the third  person was sitting across the aisle and one or two seats in front of me on the outbound flight (in front of CO 1E).

I wasn't able to keep down real food reliably until early this morning.
I felt much better after the 12th solid hours of  but it still took about 30 hours before I was comfortable eating anything but bread and drinking water and rehydration drinks.

It looks straight-up medieval.

I agree on all points.

I am happy to report that I didn't have to push food carts thru the boarding area tonight. As soon as the sun went down, the winds died as well along with the temperatures. It is currently in the low 40s and several places in Napa Vally will be in the low 20s.

I've got a business trip to Newbury Park, CA (Agouga Hilla/Calabasas) next month. 3-day trip, one 3-hour meeting :D. Flying into LAX. I am leaning towards staying in the LAX area for convenience of sights and nightlife after the meeting. Any recommendations on convenient L.A. hotels in a good area. Affinity programs do not matter for this trip, but rate should be about $130/nt or less with the Gov't rate and if parking is included thats a ^.

My short list of hotels include:

Residence Inn Beverly Hills

The Westin LAX

Sheraton Gateway LAX

Hilton Garden Inn Calabasas

I'll through out the Ren Agoura Hills. It's very nice though sure the nightlife is lacking. Parking is included and pretty sure you could get $130 or less gov't rate. Sheraton Gateway LAX is fine though nothing special.

Persuade me. :D

Actually, I have no idea what the net benefits are. There appears to be a limit on the amount of alliance flights and a tacit agreement not to flood someone else's hub, but other than that, I'm not really sure. In theory, one could use an alliance base to extend the range of an aircraft, i.e. Hub-outstation-Alliance base and back. Or Hub-Alliance base-outstation. But in the end, you probably are just competing with your neighbors.

I could not image moving those carts on the jetway. Sloped floor if your loading a 737 and those little wheels getting caught up on the transition between the sliding segments. Sure you can use gravity on the way to the plane, but the dragging the used carts back up.
