Interesting. You're making it sound more and more appealing.

It was Indonesian.

It actually started as hail, but changed to rain after a few minutes.

We left and headed to area just near Dam square. But a pit stop was required at a local coffeeshop were we had a coffee. Then we moved next door to the bar and started drinking. Several people were quite gone after taking a particularly acidic double shot of coffee. We went to rain bar, which was quite well priced.
For those not there -- we went around the corner and it started to really pour so we ducked into a bar -- which was actually called Rain!

People that don't mute their phones while on conference calls deserve a special place in h*!l.

Details, please? I'm going to AMS soon and need good ideas for food in the city.

For dinner, I'd suggest Humphrey's. It's a fixed €22.50 for an excellent three course meal.

you'd be surprised how many people simply do not know where the mute button is, especially if they were using their cell phone. We had an exec who did not know where it was on a blackberry. I kept my mouth shut but someone had to speak up and not only was the person offering the suggestion ignored but was ignored for quite a while after that too.

I was that someone today. I just flipped my lid.

"You're obviously not paying attention to this call, so do us all a favor and get off it so those of us that are actually doing work can do it without your impediment."

Tell it like it is Tuesday.

ALCO's epic failure part IV

After much hemming and hawing, we finally boarded a tram from Dam Square. By this time we started to lose people. They were either drunk, tired or a combination of both. We made it to Dam square and proceeded to wander around one of the more pedestrian areas of the city. Eventually we found our way to our intended destination, but they wanted 45 euros per-person to get in. That's a negative commander the pattern is full.

We then went to the bar next door, which would have been really cool if we were looking for that type of bar. It is the type of bar you can find in any city. We were in Amsterdam and looking for the Amsterdam experience.

We all left that bar and proceeded to the next bar, which appeared to be a small brittish pub in nature. The bar maid, who was an old cantankerous bitty hatted us. She started throwing people out for not drinking. By this point in the evening, ALCO had check out. He started calling girls prostitutes, and screaming more is more at the top of his lungs. We wanted to go to the karaoke bar (see the belgium trip), but ALCO vetoed that. We wanted to go to the begium bar, again that was vetoed. You know ALCO is in a bad place when he vetos Leffe.

We finally go have a light night coffee at one of the most touristy coffeebars in town. This is where ALCO has his crowning moment, the menu is hidden behind unlit glass and you have to push a button to light it up. ALCO pushes the button, it lights up. ALCO then removes his hand from the button and the light turns off. ALCO then looks at the menu which is now dark. He repeats this process several times and says, "what is wrong with the menu???"

Word of advice you have to hold the switch and read the menu at the same time.

I just met a CO 752 pilot while dropping of my dry cleaning. He was in line in front of me and was dropping off his uniform jacket to be cleaned. I recognized the gold buttons with the CO logo and we chatted a bit. Apparently there are several in the neighborhood.

And then I deposited $1450 in dollar coins at the bank. I got a major  from the teller for that one.

Poo. I wasn't paying attention in AM and put a plane's worth of routes on a 734 instead of a 735, and I'm too lazy to go find the suspect aircraft in my fleet.

Are you going to rename your airline to DeltWest, Mr Anderson?

Did all of this coffee you had make the burger all that much better?

Alas, I am not a major coffee drinker. No, the burger was good because it was amazing. It was on cibatta (sp?) bread with fresh lettuce, corn, tomato slices, cucumber, and ketchup. It was really a salad with hamburger between two pieces of bread.

Well left vondelpark and headed to a Malaysian place for dinner. By the time we arrived our group had ballooned to a stout 17 people. Dinner was tapas/family style and it was in fact very good. Then we partied. While in the restaurant it started to rain and that rain would be off and on for the entire evening.

I would note that the phrase "It is not possible" was uttered by restaurant employees (mostly by the manager) at least 10 times before and during the meal. Food and presentation was still very good, however.
