Good morning box :)

I'm probably guilty of having way too much fun with "Plus1" as a device in writing. But I have not yet (and have no plans to) reached the level of:

"I hope baglady feels better."
"Me." (That was classic, as are many of Plus1's posts. ^^)

Actually, I have no idea what the net benefits are. There appears to be a limit on the amount of alliance flights and a tacit agreement not to flood someone else's hub, but other than that, I'm not really sure. In theory, one could use an alliance base to extend the range of an aircraft, i.e. Hub-outstation-Alliance base and back. Or Hub-Alliance base-outstation. But in the end, you probably are just competing with your neighbors.

The alliance sets limits on the number of flights to do exactly that: prevent hub flooding. More than anything, alliance membership is beneficial for aircraft utilization. It helps to burn off hours and make some money, or in the case of ATL, it lets someone else do the low-margin widebody overwater flights while the hub resident stays on the North American continent. (Forgot to say thank you for that, Air Bob.) And you're not competing with neighbors if you do it correctly. The real-life alliances collude on pricing...I rest my case.

Morning, Box. Another day of article writing for The Mom awaits...too bad what's on the assignment sheet today won't be anywhere near the level of fun that doing that jetBlue piece was.

ETA: Three sixes in the post number...Game 1 of the Devils playoff series tonight. Nuff said - GO DEVILS!

But are you seeing any revenue boost to your bottom line by Air Bob's flights into Atlanta on routes which you are forgoing?

I had no idea that CO Express used to fly ACT-GRK

Ahoy hoy.

What are the chances I'll be upgraded between EWR and IAH.:rolleyes:
On a Sunday. :o
On a 735. :rolleyes::mad::rolleyes:

My shortest flight was probably HHH - CHS
I also had a SYR - (goose encounter) - SYR, not sure that counts.
And a BWI - PHL.
Oh, and FLL - EYW.

Not sure how short any of those are.

Good morning box, happy  day

In the sense that I'm not buying and operating more widebodies than I already am, yes. Do I get revenue sharing because he flies out of my hub? No.

I really want to fly into EYW...I'll settle for driving one way and flying the other, but the ultimate in geekery would be to build an itin that has different ways there and back. EWR-RSW-EYW-FLL-EWR would look good. I don't have RSW or EYW. There's an outside chance that I'll pick up PNS in the medium-term future. If the other half gets her way, we might have to fly PHL-CLT-PNS and back in order to pick up the designer dog that she is so fond of.

Any recommendations for Belize from the Box?

I have two hotel narrowed down for Ambergris Caye.

Cocotal Inn and Cabanas
Royal Caribbean Resort

I was really considering Journey’s End Resort, but it was just going to be too expensive. The two that I have choose from will run btwn $100 and $125 a nt.

The drive is actually not that bad. IT’s very scenic and picturesque. There are a few bridges on the way that they removed the center span from and people use them as fishing piers now that you can go out onto and get some great pictures. I took one of my favorite sunset shots there with the sun setting behind a palm tree and a sailboat moored in the water.

We stayed at the Victoria House but even in the low season it's expensive.

The Royal Caribbean was next door and we walked by it on the beach. During the summer it looked like it was deserted and I wasn't sure if it was still in business.

We sat next to some folks on the flight home who stayed at the Cocotal Inn and they seemed to enjoy it.

Try looking around Placencia in the south of Belize. I stayed at the Turtle Inn, but its expensive. My sister just did a week at a condo found on VRBO and had a blast.

Yeah I know, it's not by choice, but I will be limited to picking the cheapest place. Cheap boss , well not mine the S/O's.

I am happy to report I will get to attend a taping of Chelsea Lately this time ^

The drive is nice, but Key West itself is (IMO) very  once you get there.
