Absolutely agree. Make yourself indispensable. Go above and beyond. Even if it turns out to be a seasonal job, at least you will have left a good legacy, and the memories of you will only be positive. That way, in the future, should they be hiring, they will think of you first.

Congrats again. Though I don't really know you in person, yet, I DO know that you deserve the job! And, know that they have made the right choice!

I just saw a flash of lightning through the windows of my living room. My windows face a small courtyard and another building and it is 5 stories to get to open sky. To see lightening means that things are really lighting up out there. Good times.

As for the trips, I'd personally feel it out. Tell them you have these two trips planned and see how they respond. Life is short, don't forget to stop and enjoy it along the way.

I would let them know asap just to be up front and lay it all out. Some places have policies on how a new hire can't have any benefit time used with the first 3 months, that's what we do, but I let them know and they gave me a waiver.
