The food and beaches are stunning. IMO, only Aruba has better beaches. Grenada, Barbados, and Grand Cayman are close, but SXM and AUA are tops, I think. Best uncrowded beaches in the Caribbean have got to be in PUJ, IMO. There were a few Germans and French skulking about when I was there, but the beaches were essentially vacant.

From what I have seen/read, Khao Lak is certainly remote with limited day trip options unless you dive or head back to HKT. I'm actually really looking forward to the 5 days of relaxation!

Hopefully June is early enough to avoid all that.

I must be in the minority - I need to do stuff when I travel. I sleep in on sea days when I cruise, but otherwise I'm up early for breakfast and an excursion or golf. My take on it is this: why am I paying to go somewhere else when I could do the same nothing at my own home?

My daytrip to AUA (port call) was :rolleyes:. You're right about the beaches, but the f-ing tradewind makes me not want to go back. A warm breeze all the time...wouldn't that remind you of home?

Meh. US applied for and got TLV and Airbus was almost done building their planes. I'm announcing my intent and buying the planes I need to fly said routes either today or tomorrow. With a guaranteed 72-hour delivery, I must say that I'm in better media image shape than Dougie.

For me, getting away is important as it's the only time I disconnect. If I'm in any of my normal environments, i always have a task list and am preoccupied.
