How does that work? How does one lose an eTicket? Are they sure they didn't lose it in the Sabre->Shares migration!?!?!

Seems like status quo for everyone who attempted that run this week.

Rack rate can be a dangerous thing.

Unless one has a handy SPG50 coupon. :D

Even with the SPG50 coupons, I often find it cheaper to use my AAA discount than pay 50% rack rate...

I guess it depends. I've found the SPG50s useless in the states, but outside of the US they do come in handy.

Ah...I've never booked a Starwood outside the US (tend to use Hiltons in the UK). I'll be booking a Sheraton in Roma tomorrow though...

That should be a good time.

Here's the story:

September/October 2001 and I'm still a corporate trainer. I fly the outbound from my home near IAD to SFO on a Monday morning to start a class at one of the really flush law firms. I'm on an e-ticket.

Tuesday/Wednesday (and after I've flown the outbound), US hears grumbling that the federal government might require paper tickets for air travel. Without attempting to contact me, US re-issues my e-Ticket - for a trip in progress - and mails a paper ticket to my home (which they had flown me from earlier in the week). Apparently, I was to teleport back to Reston, VA to pick up the ticket for my return from SFO ...

I get to SFO on Friday to come home and the front-desk says I need my paper ticket. I explain that I'm on an e-ticket. They say the ticket's been converted to a paper ticket and mailed to my home. I show them the e-ticket BP from when I flew out (my company required BP's at the time for reimbursement) and that I couldn't possibly have something mailed to my home after I left my home on their aircraft. Me flying out on an e-ticket that's now a paper ticket absolutely perplexes the US employees at SFO. Long story short, I had to give US $100 in order to get on the red-eye home - for a while it was a toss-up between me paying the $100 or causing an incident (and being arrested). And yes, my e-ticket was re-issued as an e-ticket.

As a result, I have flown a US-only itinerary twice in the last 7.5 years:

A. Using all my miles on an award ticket.
B. Some ridiculously cheap itinerary to visit my best friend (~$80 DCA-BOS).

Why not the Smart car - they look real safe!

You know, for as small as it is, the Smart's gas mileage isn't all that impressive. It's not hard to find larger, better cars that are far more useful that have mileage that's almost as good. And if you go to a hybrid, you can get a far more useful, and better, car that's got better mileage than the Smart.

This is usually the case. Although from time to time there is a surprise and the SPG50 rate is worth using. I have a bunch of coupons from the year 1 that I still have not gotten around to using.

This MR has sucked pretty good.

I need to figure out transit to/from NJ for Shogun and the pre/post parties. I definitely don't want to be driving. :D

I may be able to grab you at Princeton Junction train station as long as you don't mind sharing the car with a big-... drum set.

Greetings from La$ Vega$. I rode here from EWR in F on one of the new 739 aircraft. I really thought the seat sucked. It was a little hard, but the biggest issues were the small seat pocket on the back of the seat in front, the tray table that had to be turned sideways in order to get anywhere near me, and the small indentation in the center console where they used to have a small place to store stuff.

Please put the fabulous Mrs. Xyzzy and I down as definite maybes for Shogun.

Night, b:rolleyes:x...

I think the expedient thing to do would be to terminate the honeymoon trip in MEX and become a swineherd. I heard you can get in cheap these days.

Not so much. FNC was willing to call Bush out on dumb stuff. MSNBC/CNN will have people working overtime to find a way to spin an Obama gaffe or to change the perceived angle on any of the many widely available Joe Biden goofs.
