The town prosecutor where my fiancee lives that prosecuted my traffic ticket there was on the front page of the local paper a few days later because he had won mayoral re-election in the next town over. Um, what?

In that place, even the speed trap was for out of towners. It seemed that the prosecutor knew every resident by name. If one came up in front of him, he would frequently only administer a stiff personal admonishment (because he knew that his policeman would not have issued the summons to the local unless it was a really bad violation) and send the chastened party home. But show him a NY or PA driver's license and you better get out your wallet because you would be sure to pay.

There is much to like about NJ but you need to be prepared to pay big taxes to support all of the waste at the local level not to mention what is going on in Trenton.

Just listen to the morning guy (or almost any of the shows for that matter) on NJ 101.5 and they'll tell you all about the government waste. NJ has by far more state employees per resident than anywhere else in the country and the benefits they get for themselves and their families sometimes tend towards the ridiculious. NJ Government is so  but I've lived here for 36 years and have no plans to leave mostly for the reasons that Olton cited a few posts back.

G'night box.

I must live in the freaky county that has a few big towns that are made up from a bunch of smaller ones. South Brunswick being Monmouth Jct, Deans, Dayton, Kingston (KP doesn't really count that's an ego trip name by George) one and the biggest by far is Woodbridge with at least 6 old towns including Wooobridge, Iselin, Colonia, and Fords.

Do transcon crews ever do an immediate turn (well, after a 1:40 layover) back to EWR?

Sometimes the transcon crew turns around and does the IAH flight and vice versa.

Interesting story -- not surprised in the least! In this economic environment, I imagine that all towns are interested in collecting fines for their suffering coffers & have stepped up enforcement!

I know that there will be a steady exodus of people from the state as the taxes keeping rising for the foreseeble future, and beyond. Every one has their limit!

Is that county - Middlesex? I didn't appreciate that a lot of those towns were part of the bigger towns. I've always known the names, but never thought about the actual governing bodies -- probably b/c I didn't live in those towns! I don't think there is as much of that type of consolidation in N NJ, although I'm sure that will surely change.

Your body switches into a sort of survival mode - it changes how energy is stored and utilized.

When i get to that point I find myself having to just exhaust myself until i essentially pass out - happen to sit down or something and i'm out cold. That's what happened earlier today (or yesterday).

Ok, that's new...

Looking at the cleared/standby upgrade list for my upcoming flight:

"Booked: 17 (plus 1 blocked seat)"

Never seen that before - is it common and i've simply not encountered it?

It's not common and is usually done because Y is overbooked.
