If you are at the seashore, "even in the middle of summer..." it is lovely. We get a sea breeze almost all of the time which cools the immediate area and seems to blow most of the insects inland. That microclimate is completely gone about a mile or so back and that is what you apparently think of as South Florida summer weather. The departure of the snowbirds is just a huge bonus. We are heading down there this week after a couple of days working around DC and will stay there most of the summer.

A man who knows. For him, I would have a guest room.

Houston is really not THAT bad. I actually like it. July and August need to be spent indoors or in a pool (though I've golfed both months and it wasn't that bad as long as you drink lots of water).

The very best hours I've ever spent on the Tube. I'd do it all over again. And have. :D And will.

Baglady agrees with you and is elsewhere when it's on.

My last round of golf as a MD resident was on a 106 heat index day ...

While I have never lived in Houston, I have really enjoyed the times I visited. In fact, my fiancee and I are still seriously considering moving down there after we are married. Sure, the zoning laws are weird (or, nonexistent) and the weather is super steamy in the summer but there seems to be a lot of nice areas in which to live, several great restaurants and lots of things to do.

When I lived in SoCal, I offered to move anywhere except NJ or Houston. Of course, I sooner or later ended up in both locales and enjoyed my time in each very much.

I was really happy when I found out our office was moving to DFW but found it to be only fair. (Maybe it's the airline hub?)

I had the opportunity to go back to SoCal about 12 years ago and took a pass. It was no longer the land of my youth. :(

Now, SAN, I could like that.

Guess where I'm going for the 4th? FLL! :D:p Of course where I'm going is within the aforementioned magical mile, so it's all good.

The Bay Area of Northern California has great weather, if you like cool and colder. There are a few days when you would like to have AC for your home but it's usually sunny, just cool. I love the weather here although I would not want to live across the Bay since it gets very hot on that side.

sfogate, do you have your schedule already for July? It looks like I may be visiting SFO, but would be departing for IAH on a Sunday morning.

Spring soccer is officially over. Just came back from our year end party and now I'm going to get ready for work tonight. I'm hoping for a nice easy evening with zero .

Tomorrow is going to be busy with dealing with the cost of repairing the AC in that darn FL condo. Setting up a maintenance contract so that I never have to hear from the tenant's crazy daughter and driving my son to his summer school online class introduction, plus his football practice.

Atleast there is no soccer for 6 weeks, just football until November.

For a few days its great and when you live in NYC you just want to get away every once in a while or in my case whenever there is a cheap fare somewhere :D

It seems that CO is holding reservations again (without requiring credit card charge).

Yesterday I went through the process of purchasing a ticket and chose my seats before deciding to wait and abandoned the transaction before confirming the credit card. I got the normal pop-up with a confirmation number asking if I wanted to speak to a representative.

Today, I opened up my OP account and notice that there is a reservation for the trip I looked up but it does not have a receipt or anything. I click on it and it says that they are holding the reservation until midnight tomorrow...

I cancelled the reservation and it asked me how I wanted the funds returned , I chose the original form of payment and click "Continue" and it errors out.

I golfed in BKK (in long sleeves and slacks) with an actual temperature of 110° - lord only knows what the heat index was - the humidity was at least a zillion percent.

My schedule should remain the same until September.
Sunday thru Thursday 9pm-1am.
I do try and give away a few days so that I can have more days off but that varies from week to week.

Let me know your schedule and maybe we can work something out. I'm always up for hanging out in the PClub when I'm off duty unless you're talking about 6am.
