Ugh, last weekend we noticed our AC was really struggling. Last night we discovered water on the floor of the AC closet, leaking into adjacent rooms. Classic sign of a clogged condensation drain pipe. We opened it up last night, and thought we had it cleared, and everything was looking fine today until an hour ago, and then I noticed the water again. Now I'm dealing with a big mess, after opening the case on the AC unit and discovering a nice pool of algae-infested water in the drain pan, as well as a pipe that seems clogged worse than we thought it was. As soon as the rain here dies down a little, I'm off to Lowe's for some PVC parts to put this thing back together. This is not how I wanted to spend Sunday afternoon.

Ugh, Wachovia wouldn't take my coins today. Since they submitted my Large Cash Transaction Report yesterday, "Corporate hasn't had time to respond yet. Can you come back Monday?" Well, I'm out 'til Thursday and The Mint shipped another 8k yesterday, for Monday delivery. As soon as I get back, I'll be opening a Chase & another account so I have lots of branches to drop these things off.

G'night b:rolleyes:x; gotta get up early to see the first showing of Funny People tomorrow and then go to Sams/Woodforest.
Sams/Woodforest: Didn't go broke at Sam's so that was nice, and we got a free lunch from the samples too! Woodforest was even better since they took a few hundred of my coins and didn't give me attitude... I'll see if it continues over the coming weeks when I go back with more. |

Where is all the discounted F to PHX love? There were some great fares last year out of AUS; maybe they'll come around.

Wish I had a Wegman's here; I did stop at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods on the way home from Cheekwood (Botanical Gardens and Art Museum) yesterday.

Don't forget the PVC glue!!! We noticed water leaking between our bathroom/utility room's shared walls. I took the wall apart behind the washer (so I didn't have to repair it...) expecting the T in the water line to be leaking... nah, just the builders just never glued the PVC elbows on the drain line for the AC unit. After 15 years, it finally leaked overnight. At least it did it when I was home!
In our case, it's all glued together, except for a cleanout joint just beyond the trap in the line. That's part of the problem, because it makes it completely impossible to access most of the drain line, to clear a clog. It's obvious it has been cut apart before, because there's a repair job with a new coupling that's between the AC unit and the trap. That's where our problem is again, so I'm going to put it back together with a compression coupling that can be opened up easily, as well as put in another place to allow access to clearing clogs in the pipe. Right now the pipe is cut and it's draining into a bucket. Immediately after cutting the pipe and turning off the unit, we drained out about a half gallon from the drip pan. The unit is back on now and my two gallon bucket is slowly refilling, but not at a rate that seems unusual. I'm hoping after clearing out the pipes, and reassembling it all with a better downward angle for the drain (the original plumbing was almost level), it will work better. |
