Sometimes it doesn't happen for hours, but then it will randomly freeze for no apparent reason. Sometimes it happens within 15-20 minutes of a reboot. I can't seem to find any pattern.

I hate to say this, you may need to go to the nuclear option. Reformat and re-install.

We made it back to NYC with the dog and avoided the absurd pet fees^ However, the FA was probably the rudest FA I have ever encountered. My wife had the dog carrier in her lap when we were in the air with the dogs head poking out and the FA scolded her and threatened to have authorities waiting to have her arrested if she didn't put the dog all the way in the carrier and below the seat. He was a complete a$$. I was just shocked at how the FA was talking to us and couldn't even think of anything to say back to him. Luckily, the guy across the isle said he was an attorney for the NTSB and said the FA was out of line and he will file a complaint with CO and recommended we do the same. He gave me his business card and said he would like to keep in touch in regards to CO's response.

I'm not sure if the FA was just having a bad day or what but I have never come across anyone who was such a dick to customers. We didn't do anything to draw attention to ourselves and the dog was surprisingly well behaved during the flight.

Hey guys -

Lots of things happened to me this last few weeks, which is why I haven't come here much at all. Two funerals (one in Bay Area, one in NYC), one car crash, and one cat scare (thought she was dying, but only bladder infection) later, I am totally exhausted.

Anyways, will head to Japan and Hong Kong tomorrow. See you guys later.

Two photos of my crashed STi, and one for those going to the "Stans"...

Blue screens are often signs of bad drivers (which it sounds like you have checked) or bad RAM. Have you run memtest86?

New PCs are often loaded with so much garbage that a format and fresh install (from the OS media, if you have it) of the OS is required. A restore from the system recovery media will reinstall all of the junk again.

Yeah, I know. Dreading having to try that, and not going to even go there until next weekend.

Running a check on the hard drive now, which is one thing I had not done yet.

If everything else fails, I'll call Dell tech support next Saturday after I'm back home. If I have to, I'll do a formal and reinstall of everything, but there's really no junk installed on this machine. There was hardly anything on it when I got it, and what little junk there was has been removed.

I actually think I'm at a state where it is ready for public consumption. If any Box-iens want a premium membership to try it out sign up and PM me your username there. I'll be happy to toss some freebies out in exchange for the final bits of testing that I'm sure it needs. Plus, the premium account kills the ads and gets you the mobile version.

Wow! It was probably better not to respond to the nonsense from the FA. How fortunate it was that there was an NTSB atty sitting close by (who witnessed said nonsense). It's probably worthwhile to mention the 'abuse' you received, esp. since the dog wasn't disturbing anyone, at the time.

The front seats were amazing, so both my sister and I were 100% okay. But my mom in the back bumped her head and bruised her chest. She's alright, though.

Poor you! I was thinking that it might be time to make the call to Dell tech support. Good luck!^

Good to hear!:-: Hope your mom has recovered, alright. Did the driver who rear-ended you -- get ticketed? Was said driver DUI?

Flying UA while on an upgrade standby list really makes me miss CO's web view of the upgrade list. Right now there are 16 open C seats on tomorrow's flight, and KVS shows C9, but I have no idea where I stand. Last time I did this same flight on a Monday, at 24 hours out it was C5 and the seat map matched, with 5 open seats. At the airport I ended up being about number 13 or 14 on the upgrade standby list.

Just remember dell tech support is about as useful as skis for ALCO's car.

Good to hear nothing serious.

Yeah, my mom's injury wasn't serious. Didn't even have to see a doctor. Not DUI. Don't know if she was given a ticket or not, but her insurance company most likely to total my car and write me a check. She was driving a handicapped van with a wheelchaired person inside. Heavy traffic in downtown L.A., those full-sized van have bad tires and poor brakes.
