The only international doors I've opened were from Australia. No funky smells but I can bet that the ones from India and Hong Kong must be ripe. It's all a matter of what type of passengers are on board. The more foreign the customer the more interesting the scents are. :D

I use to say that I could be blindfolded and still know when I've landed in Korea due to the smell of kim chee in the air.

My company's most advanced piece of equipment has a user interface that runs on D:rolleyes:S

It was just this year that one of our key programs went to Windows from DOS.

We are old DOS hands and worked with Lotus 123 from the beginning. There even is a copy of release 1A on a disk in our office that also has some 123 files of historical interest that were created in the late '80s. :)

Those who used DOS do occasionally look back with a bit of nostalgia at its elegant simplicity and the speed of many programs that when converted to windows got so larded up with "features" that they lost some of their utility and lots of their speed. It is interesting how developers tend to add things simply because they can, not because there is a need.

We run a quant strategy that is basically put through the ringer in lotus. I spend about 4 hours running numbers through it every Tuesday. I HATE LOTUS and Tuesdays.

I fully agree! this same computer even had an early version of the 'print shop' which was all dos, and the 'clipart' was so granular for dot matrix printers people today would laugh, but it amazed me the power and simplicity of what would could do with the keyboard.

Being that even today I'd much rather use the keyboard over the mouse, seeing this was really neat for me. My mother purchased one of the first windows versions and you had to always be changing and inserting disks(the physical kind not the cdroms!) for clipart which I found amusing, and they continued this trend many versions in even for CDROM based really giving you an example of program bloat! I guess little screen sprites of a single color they called clipart were reallya lot smaller than actual color images that we know as such today :)
