Morning Box. It is already a balmy 93 degrees here in FW.

Does anyone know when mileage upgrades on waitlist clear? We are W/L for our EWR-AUA leg on 9/3.

Good morning!

Hot and humid here in DC this morning as well.

I have found an intriguing way to get to PRG for MLK Day...

SQ has $480 one-way fares IAH-DME. From there, reasonably-priced one-way connections to PRG are possible on either Transaero (via Kiev), or Belavia (via Minsk).

You'd ride in the back for that long?

And I assume a transit visa is not required for DME, yeah? Sounds like a fun option!

I know you're going for lines and carriers but CO is $496 for IAH-FRA-PRG ;)

$596 from CLE via FRA :)

Wow, y'all had fun last night. :)

I finally made it back, after one last little round of airport drama yesterday: my CLE-PHL flight, which was supposed to depart at 11:20, was delayed "indefinitely" - the inbound plane from GRR had some kind of issue, so they had to turn around and go back, then ferry the hurt plane and crew on, aircraft change, etc.

They were able to clear 4 standbys for the 12:30 flight; I was #2. Thank you not only status, but having a ticket booked in Y (due to the rebook from last night in CLT). :D

The original flight didn't end up leaving until 3:22, then picked up another half hour worth of flight time somewhere and, according to the website, "Arrived Gate 4 Hours 42 Minutes Late."

Also, what's up with CLE not having public wi-fi at all, either free or paid? I don't remember the last airport I've been to where that's the case... (I've been holding out on paying $30/month for blackberry tethering because the $9.95/month for Boingo has been doing just fine)

My early computer life was quite different...parents got a Macintosh Plus in 1986 (and it was less than 5 years ago when we had to pry it from my mother's fingers - she said "it works and I'm used to it!"). At school we had the IIe, IIGS, then a succession of 500-series and the like. I'm fairly certain I didn't touch a PC until sometime in high school. :)

To get the IAH-DME line (before it disappears), sure. I've heard loads on that flight are really light down the back. In mid-winter, I'd likely have an entire row to myself.

Somehow I have a feeling that I will end up doing IAH-FRA-PRG many, many times. I think I may turn MLK day DO into a FM Line extravaganza... go for as many lines, dots, and new carriers as possible. Too bad I couldn't find any exotic rust-buckets ex-DME. Even Belavia is flying 735s.

Unfortunately, Air Berlin's DUS-MIA flight departs on Sundays, so I couldn't take that one back (240EUR One-Way) if I wanted to stay in PRG through Monday.

No transit visa required if you don't have any checked bags.

CO in back or SQ? SQ all the way. They're the only carrier I don't mind flying in Y trans-atlantic. Stellar food, service, IFE, and comfortable seats. :-:

Until recently CLE had AT&T wireless throughout the terminals, but I don't know if it is still there.... something tells me that with all the ridiculous constuction going on in all the terminals, they may have killed it. Generally the iPhone auto-connects to it, but now that I think about it, I don't think that's happened the past couple weeks.
