The Army has nothing in their inventory that can break the sound barrier -- had to be visiting USAF or USN.

They do it every two weeks. This one was very different. The bang didn't shake the ground either.

Look at the list of nearby AFB in later post :D

:D I hear that too! they have a test range at camp bowie for explosives (demolition group is there!) and sometimes artillery, but not too often on artillery. They are mostly looking for WW2 era unexploded ordinance and then they make it go BOOOOOM with new explosives, they are doing this on a much larger area than the base itself as the camp is smaller than WW2 era, and they are going to ranches and other locations of the former sized camp/base.

Yeah, that's a good solution...when you're not stuck in Terminal D.

WWBD, I've been invited to AC for a Bachelor party on 8/14. Do I go?

Here's the complicating factor(s):
I return from the west coast late on 8/13. I leave for OGG early am on 8/15. If I do the BP I will come directly from AC to EWR, probably still be drunk and having not slept. I'm not sure if the Canuck is going to want to put up with flying with me for the next 20 hours after a night of unmitigated disaster.

This also presents a logistical challenge with cars.

So, WWBD?

Speaking from experience with such a person, "the morning after the night before" (though admittedly we were with a bigger group) - you'll hate yourself a bit on the plane, but if you can go to sleep, your companions won't particularly care, depending on their capacity to a) feel empathy for your suffering and/or b) derive enjoyment from making fun of you then/later. :p

(I have both.)

If you can sort out the logistical challenge with the cars, and if you like the guys, then go for it!

HOLY CR@P

Just logged in to co.com to enter flights into FM and I just realized that CO booked us into LIH and out of OGG. What I thought I had booked was into OGG and out of LIH and booked my hotels and inter-island flights accordingly.

Wow.

I'm now on the phone with web support (the Plat line person didn't want to deal with it) and she's telling me I have to cancel the reward and rebook from scratch. No. No. No. I'm trying to tell her that is absolutely not correct.

Something tells me I'll be spending the rest of the day fixing this.

:mad::mad::rolleyes::mad:

Yeah, I'm worried about hating myself a lot on the plane. I routinely fly home from FRA with a tremendous hangover and it's never fun. (The FA's are great in just giving me a bottle of water and letting me wallow in my own crapulance).

The other problem is, the first half of that travel day is inane connections in CLE and IAH. If I was on the EWR - HNL it wouldn't be an issue. But I'm traversing the world of :rolleyes: first.

The Canuck's tolerance for me being an idiot is relatively low. I'm afraid it's going to start the vacation off on a :rolleyes: note.

Just out of curiosity, which method are you generally using for that research?

Well played. In the house that I grew up in, the wind would blow the sound from howitzers and M-60's from Fort Dix over into my neighborhood. Howitzer shots would shake my house, and I was ~20 miles by air from the range.

I am having similar issues, and have actually just sent my first problem-related PM to Scott.

OK unilaterally dropped my CDG-PRG and PRG-JFK flights from my reward reservation, days after the reservation had been both confirmed and ticketed (and well after the 24-hour window they have to accept or decline a reward request). I was given no notice of the dropped flights (by email or otherwise), which were apparently dropped over a week ago.

CO Elite Desk was able to re-add the flights just now, but could not assure me that they would stay confirmed (i.e., that OK might just drop the flights again). I was advised to just check back on my reservation regularly to ensure this does not happen again. I don't really think it should be necessary to play roulette with a ticketed and confirmed reservation.

It is especially aggravating, as I have already expended significant $$$ to fly friends of mine from the UK to PRG, at a time that coincided with my arrival there, and as OK is the only carrier operating PRG-NYC nonstop on the date of my return.

Ah, the joys of :rolleyes:

I went through the same thing with my JFK-ICN flight on KE (which I have since dropped on my own). Although, when I tried to get them added again, I was told there was no longer J availability! Fortunately, Scott was able to fix the problem in just a matter of hours and the segment never disappeared after that. ^

I could be completely wrong on this, but didn't OK announce they are dropping all long-haul flying?

You might be going via kite or luft balloon.

Web support woman actually claimed to have fixed everything. I'm going to give co.com some time to reflect the changes, so I can verify. Here's to hope.
