Reading his post there it doesn't look like it is dead, simply that he's trying to back off from it being a marketplace and shift back towards the "good old days" where people gave away expiring chits they had that they couldn't use. Dunno how well that will play out or even if that is where it will end up, but that sure looks like what he's thinking from here.

Good points, but people were misusing the idea of gift cards and introducing cash into transactions, if that is to be believed. Pandy giveth, Pandy taketh away, and stupid people don't follow the rules.

That could have been accomplished by putting an end to gift card threads and summarily locking all of the open GC threads.

Yeah, but if it comes back it will be without Gift Cards, which I have traded many times. I know there are people who mascaraded gift cards or certs as cash, but I was not one of them. I always had the certs or GCs which I had earned and posted their value up front in exchange for what I was looking for.
There was just a thread about it on CC recently.

9:15 :-:, I had a free ride to JFK with someone who had to be at LGA to pick up a friend and I had to stop at the MH office in NYC this afternoon to pay for taxes on a reward. So I had to leave early and they dropped me off at teh Jamaica Station. When I arrived at the CH , I said " SQ check in is not open yet can I come in ?"
The agent said no problem I just need to see your Gold Card, I was a little confused since he did not even verify I was flying, and simpky said "Enjoy, you have plenty of time to check in"
