Louisiana can certainly claim title to one of the greatest works of American literary fiction of the 20th century. A Confederacy of Dunces is an absolute masterpiece, up there with the best of Pynchon, Vonnegut, Roth, and Palahniuk.

Come to think of it, I fear my valve is closing... :-:

There was talk of a AUS area do, should this come about I make the following recommendations:
1. Make it multi day
2. Make one day a venture up to Dublin to tour the Dublin Dr Pepper 'factory' and have a sampling of the real stuff, not the HFCS junk.
3. Go a few miles out of dublin and visit Veldhuizen Cheese Shop and farm for a tour and tasing of the most excellent raw milk, perfection cheeses!

Taking out the other obvious  there is some incredible food served in this region. The Cajun Landing in Alexandria is particularly good :D

I picked up chicken-based andouille in Costco last week. Really good stuff.

Same ones were in Louisville this morning and as they moved east, I came west and just managed to get into CVG before the worst. Driving over to Lou in that crap was not exactly a walk in the park.

Parts of downtown here are under water.

this has been a very stormy summer, but only in regions, others going totally rainless when they normally get more than surrounding areas.

The warning here just started at 7:09 PM, and I'm far west of Louisville (I-24).

The best Turducken I ever ate came from Ville Platte, Louisiana. Epic meal.

LOL. Not quite. I haven't been posting much lately because there's a case prepping for trial (a rarity at my place of work, as most of them settle). I've been working 10+-hour days for much of the past few weeks, with not much time to post.

That's another cell that was over Evansville when I got here this afternoon. It apparently has taken a southern turn.

Mmmmmm... My chili is almost ready...

Yes, that would be the epicenter of that.

You betcha. A year later, I am STILL trying to work off the effects of a) there is no walking in the South; b) Baton Rouge is truly "a drinking town with a football problem"; and c) oh man, can these people cook...

I think what I really need to try for in my life is to orchestrate more social events centered around "active" activities rather than sedentary (or, worse, eating-related) ones. However, the success of this probably depends largely on who one's friends are - I think a good percentage of people I know would look at me like I had three heads if I suggested that we go kick a soccer ball around...

And it doesn't help that I'm not particularly great at most recreational sports. :p

Check that last post about the midwestern storms. The Nashville thing right now looks like the tail end of the one that inhabited the Ohio Valley earlier today. That thing that was over Evansville looks like it will give us a replay of that first one with a center about at Elizabethtown or just north of the KY-TN line.
