Catching up on the box makes for great bowl reading. Workshop done...learned some good stuff and had it reinforced to me that my method of making my way into teaching and my choice of subject are quite possibly the hardest way to enter the field...but I've never been one to take the logically easy road. |

rolov, it wasn't a rogue moose in FRA. A 10 year old fell off the air-stairs. ETA: the story said it happened on Wed, so they must have towed the plane in after that. |

Staying behind in that train-wreck would be bad news all around in the long-run. It sucks beans, but I gotta head some other direction for my own personal sanity. Besides, assuming I get teh rock back, I intend (after paying off a small private student loan that irks me) to use the remaining proceeds for a paid :-: RTW in C from one of the cheaper origin-countries to do a blitzkrieg on my BD account.
I'm sure the other women in The Box can give you suggestions on how to make the most of your misery. We can recommend sad music that you can sing and cry along with. Methods of getting back at said rotten person that involve forwarding their mail to a dead address drop. And we can also tell you to stop wasting your time wishing them dead....it never happens unless you're the one driving the car over them. :D Hope all is well with you soon. |

I have heard that the situation at Thimphu, Bhutan is nearly as hair-raising. The highway runs right along the edge of the very end of the runway, and they have to stop traffic when the Druk Air flights come in. The winding approach through the mountains is supposed to be even more gut-wrenching than the Kai-Tak Checkerboard Approach.
I landed safely, of course. But if it had one, the GPWS would've been screaming, "Pull up you crazy b@stards, pull up!" |

Over and out, y'all...driving to Silver Spring/Gaithersburg/Fairfax this afternoon. Hopefully I will time the various stops just so, and hopefully the rental car (Pontiac G5) will be pleasant enough. (Lots of gear-shifting-mechanism  with my poor car recently...I'll get into it later) |

For poops and giggles, I loaded that airport into Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 and shot the RWY33 approach in a 737-800. While flight sims aren't necessarily indicative of real life, that approach was horrifically insane. I don't know what's normally allowed to fly into that airport but doing it in a jet is nuts.

ETA - With any luck, I can get enough Aerogeekery/Crazy-Travel-Planning done in the near future to allow sufficient time for a second mid-life crisis at the usual time (late 30s). |
