Either or would be good.
I'm leaning towards cashing out one of my free nights for the W. So, the Fairfax Embassy Row it is. :) That reminds me - I really want to check out the W rooftop bar. It has one of the best views in town. |

If you are cashing in a free weekend night, I would go with the W. You should consider the St Regis, as well.

Indians expect to lose $16M this year.
CLEVELAND – Cleveland Indians owner Paul Dolan projects the team will lose $16 million this season and says the recent trades of Cy Young winner Cliff Lee and All-Star catcher Victor Martinez were necessary long-term moves. Dolan estimates the team will draw about 1.7 million fans this season, more than 500,000 less than the team expected before opening day. The Indians, who came within one win of the World Series in 2007, expected to contend this season but went into Thursday's game at 45-62 and in fourth place in the AL Central. The trades of Lee and Martinez have led to a backlash from Indians fans. Dolan also said ownership will have input into whether manager Eric Wedge returns next season. |

CO1E, I have a coworker bringing 2 kids, mid-teens, to DC and looking for a restaurant with good views for dinner on Sunday. Any suggestions?
In general, the better restaurants in DC are located downtown and in Georgetown, with other clusters in Dupont Cirlce, Capital Hill, and Cleveland Park, to some extent. Unless one is looking for a particular restaurant or type of cuisine, it is best just to select the neighborhood one wants to end up at the dinner hour and pick one of the better restaurants in that neighborhood. |

Well, can we make the W a stop in our run? In that case, it may behoove us to have at least one person staying there to get us all in.
We need to do dinner at 7:00 to ensure that SG and CM can make their 10:00 train without issue. The restaurant is about a 10-minute walk from the W, so for it to be worthwhile to go before dinner, we would have to show up at the W around 5:00. I am not sure what time the rooftop opens, so I will have to look into it. Or, we could put it off until after dinner. |
Thanks CO 1E, Agraria may just work. ^

Brituchenite, take him up on the offer for FREE tech support in the USA ^
You betcha! I am just waiting to hear from Mr Brit, and then may very well be begging sbm12 to save my sanity. I gave up in disgust earlier, shut eveything down and went out for lunch with a friend. I'm now home and drowning my sorrows with a cup of tea and a cadbury's flake. At least that's something nice, right?!!

Nice. I have heard that the situation at Thimphu, Bhutan is nearly as hair-raising. The highway runs right along the edge of the very end of the runway, and they have to stop traffic when the Druk Air flights come in. The winding approach through the mountains is supposed to be even more gut-wrenching than the Kai-Tak Checkerboard Approach.
The "Carrier Deck" at Funchal Airport in Madeira is also pretty cool...:eek: for Madeira. I remember flying into kai-tak in the later 70's early 80's. enough to make you pee your pants :D |

You guys have any suggestions on restaurants in Dallas? My birthday is in two weeks and I've got a reservation at the Renaissance Dallas already, but I don't know where to go for dinner. I was thinking etouffee at Pappadeauxs but that is a chain and while it's usually good that doesn't mean it always is. Other option is Landry's (of bag fame) but that too is a chain. I like meat, so suggestions that are meat related would be welcomed and appreciated.

Hi Everyone,
Was just wondering if anyone here works in advertising. I've been a sales manager for a tech magazine and website for several years and lately the place is becoming miserable (bouncing paychecks, running out of basic things like office supplies, etc.). Anyone else in media? Anyone know of any companies looking for someone with sales skills? I'm open to other fields where my skills could be utilized. I need to jump this quickly sinking ship. Feeling nervous about where things are going. PM me if you have any ideas. Thanks for your help. |
Although traveling and "on leave", a crisis came up at work. So I'm on the laptop back at the hotel, watching meerkats ...

Looks like my job hunting days may be coming to a close. With a pay raise compared to my old job to boot! I don't want to say more and jinx myself till it's official.:)
