Yes, I'm very happy with that plan (which I only activate when I am outside the US). Didn't realize that incoming texts were $.05 each, though (not that I receive many texts while traveling).

Use Google Voice for your international SMS service as they do not charge for the service. Plus, I am surprised that VZW charges for incoming SMS - TMo only charges me for outgoing when roaming internationally (and they too prorate the plan).

My purchase of the Panasonic Skype WiFi phone has been one of my best geek purposes - we used it a lot in Asia earlier this month and loved not having to worry about the $1+/minute meter running while we called home.

I just called the Hyatt Place ATL Airport South using my laptop in Aruba - haven't geeked up to the straight WiFi phone yet.

Yeah, I haven't even set up my Google Voice yet.

I got it when I was working in BUD last year and did not want to keep dealing with a headset or lugging my laptop to/from the office. The handset can work great on its own or comes with a minirouter for hotels without WiFi.

In fact, I now use this phone as my primary unit for my business and it works great.

It is pretty easy. I have mine set up to ring both my Skype In and mobile numbers, defining it as my eOffice number to my clients. ^^

As I don't have Google Voice set up, my only phone service is the ancient Blackberry or Skype ...

How much does the handset cost?

I have had my Acer netbook for about six months, but am already considering upgrading to something with better graphics.
