Does *G allow lounge access for domestic itineraries if the *G program that one uses for access is from a US-based airline? For instance, can UA 1Ps and above access RCC's when traveling domestically?

DCA is by far the nicest in the system. Because its the newest. I also like the one in terminal F'ed in PHL. The pics you have are from the one that runs over the food court, which isn't too bad, but is often in dis-repair. LGA isn't bad either, but that's fixin to change to a SkyPub one of these days when DL and US do the terminal swap.
What killed me about US Clubs is how chincy they were. Cash bar. Cash wi-fi. Cash everything. They'd patrol the no food rule like hawks, but never have anything out except, maybe, pretzels. They've moved away from that model (except for cash bar) and I think have gotten a bit better. But, I haven't been in one in a couple years. The clubs in RDU, PHX, and especially LAS were an absolute joke. |

I don't get kitchenettes in hotels. If you're staying for more than a week (which is the demo they're apparently going after) I can understand it, but for a day or two, I don't need / want a kitchenette. It just attracts nastiness which is what I try and avoid, more than anything, when I stay in a hotel.
A microwave and a mini-fridge is way more than I ever need. |

You're watching an old episode - she's down almost 400 pounds now. I don't watch, fiancee does. She was also on Rachael Ray this morning.

So, why the question from sdm1130 about whether people would drop their P Club memberships and rely on *G for lounge access?
ETA - A sizable number of Boxers have been indoctrinated in teh cult of BD. :-: |

Have you sampled teh Envoy Lounge at PHL? If so, how was it?
It's nice. It's actually one of the nicest lounges of any domestic airline I've ever been in. The kicker is you have to be an an international itinerary to access it (as either a Star Gold or a business class pax). It's opened until around 2 or 3 as a regular lounge (or, it was a couple years ago) and then they boot you, everything was put away, then they change it over for the Envoy lounge prior to the TATL bank. Self-serve bar, fresh fruit, cold cuts, cheeses, etc. It's very nicely done and well laid-out. My last trip through there I was a bit miffed by it because I was flying to ATH which was one of the first flights out on the TA bank. We flew into PHL around 1pm (can't trust US when it comes to connecting) and our flight left around 430 or so, so we were relegated to the food-court lounge for a couple hours. They finally let us in at 330 to the Envoy lounge and then we left 20 min. later for boarding. The system is kind of goofy, but I understand why they do it that way. There were also flies all over the food spread. Then we sat on a US 767 for 9 hours that had domestic catering (catering oops ), in-operable seats, and IFE that had one ear in Espanol and one year in English. When I wrote to US they told me "our contract was to get you from NYC to ATH. Which we did. Go away." So I did. (Their Envoy lounge set-up may be different now) |

For those of you that have a PClub membership and are currently *G through BD - are you going to renew your PClub membersip or just use *G for your club access? Besides being able to access a PClub when you aren't flying a Star carrier (or not flying at all), is there any real advantage to paying for a membership after CO joins Star?

Am curious to see what teh Element brand is like this weekend. I haven't been overwhelmed with Aloft, but hopefully Element is an improvement (I should hope so, considering that all rooms are suitelets with mini-kitchens).

I chalk up my positive experiences of US to having extremely low expectations going in. Years of reading horror stories on FT prepared me for onboard Armageddon. It was a relief to get from A to B in a relatively comfy F seat with an endless supply of Pomegranate martinis. I was not spat upon by any US employees, nor did anyone defecate upon the beverage cart. Win. :-:

Which Element are you staying in? I'm curious to hear as well. I've wanted to stay in one, but they're still pretty hard to find.

That's more a practical thing because I don't eat big breakfasts and charging me $35 for a buffet when all I really need/want is a 50 cent bowl of cereal is just absurd. You'll never see me cooking pasta or something in a hotel kichenette. If I'm not home -- and especially if I'm on vacation -- I'm out doing. Seeing. Experiencing. (Or sitting on FT, while writing emails and waiting for a colleague.) |

Probably a stupid question but does BD status match CO Golds to BD Gold? Even if they match me to Silver, I could get the extra 22,000 miles by simply flying a couple of mistake Q-UPs.
