The cleaning guy here was just buffing the carpets in the office. Not vacuuming, but buffing. Very strange.

Completely different animal. I've got an I4000 with exact same problem. Works great in docking station with external monitor. ;)

I'm at a distinct disatvantage with this 3G card. Do I invest in $14.95/day internet for the chance to post faster? That would be so

I usually don't have problems with my mobile card, I use Sprint :-:

Doing my part again to get to 90k before xyzzy goes to dinner.

Xyzzy Sep 21, 2009 5:32 pm

Yesterday I gave a pile of the $1 coins to a cabbie who was a little surprised. Of course, I was peeling them off of the roll :p

This is horrible. Now that I know your story, I will refuse to fly US too...

Thank you sir. in solidarity.

I wish the he!! and anguish US needlessly put me through on no one. When I called the US1 line when I found out my flight was CXL the woman sensed something was up from the tension in my voice.

When she found out why I was flying, to her credit, she tried desperately to help me out. But this was only a month or so after US East switched from Saber to QIK/Shares and the East agents (where the US1 line connected to) were handicapped by a complete lack of training. Anything but a simple res. or rebook required a call to a "help desk" which was routed through (I believe) an outsourced call center that steadfastly held to the no waivers no favors policy.

After spending nearly an hour on the phone with this woman, who had the patience of an angel, she was as angry at US as I was. She told me things like "she had lost faith in her company" and "US didn't deserve my business" and she was absolutely correct.

She told me she would tell anyone with an ear what US had put me through and promised me someone would follow-up.

Well, someone did follow-up from Tempe and they sent a form letter telling me that schedule interruptions due to weather were outside of their control. But as a gesture of their good will, and in an effort to retain my business, they were issuing me the Air Check Plus.

I took that letter, shred the voucher, cut up my US1 and US Club card, photo-copied all of it and mailed it to every Exec. I could find with a simple note saying -- "curious why you're losing one of your highest value FF'ers? Talk to [NAME] in Winston-Salem." And that was it.

A few months later I received a call asking why I didn't renew my Club membership and I asked them why I would pay for the Club if I stopped flying US. The woman made a remark like "oh, did you move or change jobs?" And I said "nope. US pushed me away with their disdain of their customers." She typed something into the computer, told me to hold on a moment while she read a note related to my file, and then, in a complete change of tone in her voice, sincerely apologized for having disturbed me and wished me a nice day and all the best.

That's the last I ever heard from US.

And, in the end, someone did something right. They knew that nothing they could do or offer would retain me as a customer. To attempt would be to protract the inevitable. It was the one day that Tempe had an ounce of common sense.

I'm rather curious what the note in my FF profile says (if one exists at all). For all I know/care it could say I'm a raving lunatic and not to do business with me.

I do sincerely hope however that someone somewhere heard my story and vowed to change things. I hear from coworkers that still fly them that they are a completely different airline then they were 2 years ago and if that's the case, good for them. I hope I helped impact some of that change, although realistically I'm sure I didn't.

And I avoid doing business with them at all costs.
