Often true. However, many essential Government provided services can't reasonably function like private industry. If all police forces were privatized, this country would look like South Africa, with all the middle class (and rich) folk living in gated communities with razorwire and glass-shard topped fencing around their compounds, and Acura offering bullet-proof glass on TLs. Likewise, the Coast Guard would only operate near major metropolitan harbors, leaving small-craft operators in most of the country SOL if something went wrong at sea.

Speaking of Duvel, will a 750ml bottle get you trashed like some people claim?

True, but your example compares security forces to the mail. The problem with the postal service is that they have never grown-up to meet the demands of today's economy. They've raised stamp and direct mailing prices while demand plummets. If they CO jacked up prices as people stopped flying them they wouldn't survive.

However whats the backstory here? sounds interesting! Plus1 picked up peaches on our trip to HHH. He picks peaches the same way he picks avocados; he feels the harder the better. Needless to say; the peach shortcake I was making (with bisquits the way it's intended) took much, much longer and was not done with fresh peaches, but sauteed peaches. It tasted fine but took 30 minutes longer than it should have. No more peach picking for Plus1. And now I'm craving peaches. |

It will get you reasonably tipsy. If you hammer-down a couple double-whiskies afterwards, you can certainly get trashed.

Am I the only one who prefers apricots to peaches?

Peaches and Pecans, I must be from Georgia and not know it. peach, pecan jalapeno preserves from the San Saba river pecan co, are wonderful! i thought the combo sounded terrible the first time, but tried it on a bagel, WOW! |
