An excellent choice. ^

Seconded. Aaron Sorkin was not well-understood at that point...if he was, the show would have lasted longer. Maybe he should have taken up the nose candy earlier in life; it seemed to help his writing on The Left Wing. (Loved that show, but also love to use the nickname.)

Does Texas and/or Louisiana law make the jewelery the guy's property all the way thru the process? I know (because I researched, just in case -) that NJ law for broken engagements states that the ring is a conditional gift and is basically like wallet candy: must be surrendered upon request. Not sure how it works for going past that point and handling it as a divorce settlement item. Maybe I'll ask my father.

I'm more looking for a reputable state-side jeweler who is willing to purchase such a stone at (or reasonably near) Rapaport Value. Don't really care where in the U.S., as a reputable merchant would be worth the travel expense.

Why not double-dip and cross a visit to Philly off your list? I'll call the guy on Jewelers Row that did my fiancee's ring and our wedding bands if you want.

Is QF the OneWorld-equivalent tool for :-:A and ANA?

My brother just told me isn't a member of any hotel programs. I wonder if we're really related.

I am seeking an Annulment under Texas Family Code 6.107 on grounds of Fraudulent Inducement to Marry (without subsequent cohabitation). An annulment means that there was never legally any Marriage in the first place. So, the conditional gift theory would indeed come into play. However, (for now) it looks as if the ring issue will be resolved without recourse to legal action.

I'm jealous.

When did you become a mod for the B6 forum? I must have missed the memo.

Here's another link I found - if you want to consign your diamond:
http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/inf...-your-jewelry/

I really don't know where you would be able to get reasonably near rappaport value unless you can sell it to a private person. Diamonds are a bit like cars -- when 'previously owned' they are worth less than when offered brand new. Also, a jeweler might offer more if you were going to buy something else w/the 'credit'. Good luck!:-:

Me too. I miss being able to get a table whenever I want. :(

He is temping in B6-land for Seat13c, who IIRC had to give up his magic wand temporarily to take care of some personal .

From what I've heard, getting 80%+ of Rapaport with a good stone is not difficult when dealing with a reputable jeweler who regularly sells such stones. They are less willing to negotiate near Rapaport value when the clarity, color, cut, etc., of the stone are not very desirable. However, a 1.54Ct, D, IF Radiant Cut is the sort of thing that would easily be salable at retail rates as part of an engagement ring, especially in larger markets with a sizable base of affluent clientele.

The weather for Friday looks ok but we all know that doesn't mean much when talking about EWR. I plan on checking the "today's operations" page on the site a few times an hour to see how things are running.

My ticket on the 7:00 CO flight is a refundable one and the 6:00 Acela would get me there by the skin of my teeth if it's right on time (still have to get over to EWR and then to off-site parking).

Luckily, my gear (which would normally be in my truck) is at my guitarist's house and he'll be bringing it to the venue. Since I had to drive Ms. GadFly to the airport on Monday and she packs like she's going on a 6-month trip to no-laundry-land, I asked if he wouldn't mind helping me out. I guess since I drive him to all the shows (he lives 5 minutes from me), it's only fair. He says he'll unpack and set up my drums so all I'll have to do it tweak things a little.

Yeah....tell me about it!

If any Box NJ folks want to go to where the gig is in Middlesex and play "Will Steve make it for our 9:30 start time", let me know and I'll post details.

CO 1E, if I book that Acela ticket and wind up taking the flight, do I have to pay a cancellation penalty to Amtrak if I cancel before departure time? It certainly won't hurt to have a backup plan.
