Finishing off my supply of Saint Arnold Summer Pils. Definitely one of the best one-off brews from Saint Arnold.

Often true. However, many essential Government provided services can't reasonably function like private industry. If all police forces were privatized, this country would look like South Africa, with all the middle class (and rich) folk living in gated communities with razorwire and glass-shard topped fencing around their compounds, and Acura offering bullet-proof glass on TLs. Likewise, the Coast Guard would only operate near major metropolitan harbors, leaving small-craft operators in most of the country SOL if something went wrong at sea.

UPS also tore the heck out of my package delivered today (the inversion table they immediately recorded as "on wrong truck" yesterday). Won't be able to tell if it's damaged until I return from MEM.

Where'd you order the inversion table from? -- I've been thinking of getting one, myself!

Hopefully there's no damage to it!

Yes, but the government does protect monopolies on some activities that aren't necessarily public goods ...

eBay - I took photos of the damaged shipping box at lunch, before I left for MEM.

Absolutely. It's not always a bad thing, though. "Deregulation" of the power generation/transmission/trading industry here in Texas was an absolute disaster. We got to enjoy both Enron and (now) some of the highest residential and commercial electric rates in the U.S. as a result. Give me back HL&P, any day.

I say tax the ones that use it the most not give them discounts. Help save us all the problems.

Perhaps it's the LDS crew of the JW posse. When it's too hot to go door to door they retreat to air conditioned call centers.

To date I have only had 100 of those miles post. At least I think they were from that promotion. They posted as "Global Points Exchange Deposits." Has anyone else received more than 100? I thought the first round of those was supposed to net 300 total.

I got the 300 from previous offer. Interesting that they are giving so many away.

There was talk of a AUS area do, should this come about I make the following recommendations:
1. Make it multi day
2. Make one day a venture up to Dublin to tour the Dublin Dr Pepper 'factory' and have a sampling of the real stuff, not the HFCS junk.
3. Go a few miles out of dublin and visit Veldhuizen Cheese Shop and farm for a tour and tasing of the most excellent raw milk, perfection cheeses!

Works for me!

Glad to hear that! There was one in particular that was :td:

I do like myself a good 'crisp' with oatmeal crust sometimes however!

Don't ask Plus1 to pick the peaches.

When I answer in the affirmative, they respond by introducing themselves and then asking if I am a believer. I tell them I am Jewish and they're like . Apparently, all they want to do is say a prayer for you on the phone. Did not ask for any money. I listen and thank them for the prayer. It's the least I can do, even if I don't believe.

ETA: I've never received these calls living anywhere else.

 Never heard of it. Is your # unlisted?

3 or 4 times and it was always great. The view is spectacular and you pay for that; but the food was quite good.

The packaging for the DVDs are fabulous. The first season came in a lighter like box and second season in a shirt. Can't wait for season three to begin!

CO 1E, if I book that Acela ticket and wind up taking the flight, do I have to pay a cancellation penalty to Amtrak if I cancel before departure time? It certainly won't hurt to have a backup plan.

It should be fully refundable if you don't actually print the ticket. If you do print it, there might be a 10% refund penalty, depending on the fare bucket the ticket booked into.

My ticket on the 7:00 CO flight is a refundable one and the 6:00 Acela would get me there by the skin of my teeth if it's right on time (still have to get over to EWR and then to off-site parking).

Luckily, my gear (which would normally be in my truck) is at my guitarist's house and he'll be bringing it to the venue. Since I had to drive Ms. GadFly to the airport on Monday and she packs like she's going on a 6-month trip to no-laundry-land, I asked if he wouldn't mind helping me out. I guess since I drive him to all the shows (he lives 5 minutes from me), it's only fair. He says he'll unpack and set up my drums so all I'll have to do it tweak things a little.

Oooohhh, traffic stress! Good luck! You can do it. :) And I don't envy percussionists one BIT with all their logistical/setup . My co-worker has been playing all over NYC since he was in HS and oh, the stories of double-parking the van, squeezing into service entrances, etc... I mean, I was always jealous of those who could actually take their instruments apart and fit them into small suitcases, but a lot of people have it a LOT worse!

There must be something in the water. I think THREE of my friends have gotten engaged in the last two weeks, and the whole summer has been quite similar, and here y'all go with the great ring discussion. :)

Took one of my best friends engagement ring scouting a couple years ago. It was fun...and yes, slightly trippy. :)
