I do pay for it (or rather, my company mostly does) with ~$25,000 a year in business for CO. I could choose any airline to fly but I choose them for most of my business and all of my leisure travel. They constructed a system to reward me for my business and when it either doesn't work or is skirted by employees with an agenda, I think I have every right to complain.

FWIW, I don't think I've ever been the victim of shenanigans but I agree with a lot of people that post here that a lot of the policies surrounding the EUA process are flawed and should be re-thought.

I'd agree -- one of CO's problems IMHO is they seek to automate (good) but become so enamored with the idea they do not allow for a manual system should the automated process break down. Hence you get the one of the constant themes here on the forum: when CO works, it's great. When it breaks, it's horrible.

When people :rolleyes: at the EUAs/Up-for-$$$/IRROPs/co.com/WeCare/etc. it's seems it's often because the front line was not empowered (or not willing) to make a common sense judgment call.

What is this so-called churn circuit that you speak of? I don't spend much time investigating offers other than CO & the irregular US ones (my wife still has some miles there, don't hate me). I did a quick search & only found the usual 25k for opening a card.

Nah, it's cool. I was jaded long before I discovered The Box. Sad to say when I'm not even 30.

Citi lets you open some multiple of cards and pays the mileage bonus on each one. Your FICO takes a small hit for the repeated inquiries, but if you have good enough credit anyway this shouldn't be a problem. AAlso, that AAirline counts AAll miles towAArd lifetime stAAtus, not just those flown...so 25K x three or four credit cAArds is a nice bump in thAAt depAArtment.

Now he needs to not order well-done.

Agree! Last night we were on CO 88 EWR-IAH. Things looked good for Plus1 as even though he had fallen to #5 at T 30; there were still 5 open seats. Then 2 seats were gone and he was till at #5. I'm thinking there were 2 people on the 8:15 with paid F seats that moved to the 7:00 p.m. We went out with Plus1 #2 on the list; quite grumpy. I had offered (sincerely, I might add) to switch seats as I had a fist full of drink coupons and I even mentioned doing a buy up. He grumpily said no to both. I don't *think* there were shenanigans, but there was no real transparencies, so who knows?

CM beat me too it but the that's the basically it. The 30k link is for Personal MC, AMEX and the Biz AMEX; you can apply for all 3 but Citi does require a 6 month waiting period between each similar app (IIRC.) So for example you and the wife could apply for the MC, AMEX and Biz card (120,000 for that), wait the 6 months, and then reapply. :D
