Best Customs story I can come up with is leaving my hand baggage next to the carousel after claiming the heavy bags when coming home from deployment into BWI. Because I left the baggage area and came out into the non-sterile area, that qualifies as the dumbest thing I ever did travel-wise. Customs agents were kind enough to rescue my backpack after flashing my ID. Close in second place is when my mother gave me a card to mail from the airport in FLL - envelope in one hand, paper ticket in the other...I was so ridiculously tired that I had the ticket pushed almost all the way into the mail slot before I realized that it was the wrong item.

He's got to stop boycotting them one day!

IAH agents didn't even bat an eye when I listed: Germany, Norway, Russia, China, Thailand as "countries visited" on my blue form during last summer's 5-day pseudo RTW. Dude must have been mailing it in that day.

The last few times I have come into the US at JFK and EWR B the Immigration person was just happy to see a US passport and not have to do all the fingerprint stuff. The overflow to the US line is  for them so they just stamp , stamp and draw on the customs form .

I spent 4 hours in HNL customs. I had just return from BKK and bought almost nothing of value. The customs guy asked where I worked and I said for CO in HNL in the customs hall. Still didn't stop him from looking at everything, including my purse (which was a first for me) and when he was just about to squeeze the toothpaste from the tube, his boss said stop, you're done.

Well if they don't have the new uniforms, why not just wear the old ones until they get the new ones? This was also at ATL, so I doubt anyone there is protesting the disappearance of the NW brand. I didn't make it into a club at MSP on this trip so no idea what they're wearing there. This wasn't everyone either. The agents at the desks had uniforms on. The food service people were the ones wearing the t-shirts, which had nothing but a DL logo and the words "Sky Club."

You have to love an airline where you've flown 80% of your journey and they tell you that your ticket still has 50% of it's residual value.

In fun news, this mornings LGA-CMH flight became a LGA-LGA-CMH flight. I was really hoping for a LGA-JFK-CMH flight so I could say I actually beat the Van Wyck. :D

Posting this from somewhere between ATL and DTW on a DL MD-88, seat 25E. I was bored so I thought I'd fork over the $10 for some Wi-Fi. It's surprisingly fast (as others have previously posted) but still IMO not worth the price they charge. However, it's pretty sad that this connection is so much better than what I get at many hotels with either pay or free "high speed" Internet. If Go Go and DL can get this kind of performance out of a wireless connection while I'm moving at around 500 MPH, there's no excuse for the crappy hotel Internet on the ground with a fully wired connection.

This was an interesting email I got today :

Don’t be surprised if you see a Green Fairy on board your next Virgin America flight.

Virgin America is delighted to be the first Airline to offer Absinthe in-flight.

Le Tourment Vert authentic French absinthe is now available on all Virgin America flights. Try our Mile High Cocktail, a Tourmenting and satisfying blend of Le Tourment Vert Absinthe, sprite and lemons shaken and served over ice. Bon Voyage!

Yeah, I got that too. The problem with absinthe is that it is so godawful that you have to effectively dump sugar into it so that it doesn't take out the lining of your esophagus. I find no redeeming qualities in it personally, and would rather have bourbon.

In other news, Marriott is offering Priority Pass memberships for 55,000 points that includes ten free entrances to airport clubs, including all CO PCs, and additional entries for $27 each. I find that I could use an airport club about ten times a year given my current travel, so does that really seem like a bad idea? I certainly have the Marriott points to spare. Hmm...

I thought Absinthe was illegal in the US.
