Boeing factory tour or Museum of Flight?
The Museum of Flight is pretty close to SEA while the Boeing factory is a 30-45 minute drive. If planned right, it's definitely possible to do both in 1 day. |
Does anyone know of a 500 mile bonus per purchase on the CO Presidential Card this month?

Why do airlines treat Express pax like second class citizens?
I don't get it. Why must airlines give Express passengers inferior facilities and service? Often times the ticket prices are just as high, and even sometimes higher, than their big-plane brethren. I accept that the in-flight product and comfort will be inferior, and that's a small price to pay for increased service frequency or routes to airports that can't handle mainline service.
But why can't I get a "real" airline experience on the ground? CO is especially guilty of this. After spending 5 hours in the EWR Asylum on Christmas Eve, I'm fed-up with airlines excusing bad facilities as acceptable for Express passengers. There weren't enough seats in that blessed orb for the mob of people that was occupying it. The gates are laid out in the most idiotic fashion imaginable so the PA announcements sound like the teacher from Peanuts. People were sprawled out everywhere, it was insanely hot, and there's more or less 0 services in the terminal. The Budweiser brew pub place staff had more or less given up and the Starbucks had no more food by the evening. The sandwich shop tried to sell me a chicken caesar wrap for $22 (scam.com) so I didn't bother. I know, that's not CO's fault, but they need to put pressure on the PANYNJ to clean that dump up. The highlight of the night was when two dogs began fighting over a pigeon that was flying around the facility (pooping on people). It landed about equidistant to the dogs who both charged at the same time and ended up going after each other. This was actually a welcome distraction to watching the countless people rant about CO and their cruddy experience on Christmas eve (not to mention how many people were crying that their flights were canceled and they wouldn't get to spend Christmas with their families). What is CO's fault is thinking they can operate that many flights out of a space that's that small. It's worse then being relegated to the basement of the C terminal. At least there you could have access to the full terminal. In the orb, all you have access to is a non-stop headache. I know the weather was bad around EWR on the 24th and I know the ops folks were doing their best given the operational constraints they were under. 5 hour delays are a(n unfortunate) fact of life in NYC. But the facilities you made me wait in were not acceptable. Dear Continental - please start treating Express pax with respect and ground services that are equal to that of your mainline operation. I know this problem isn't limited to EWR, I've suffered many a hour in the Express orbs at IAH. If nothing else, buy more chairs. |

Boeing factory tour hands down. The Museum of Flight is cool but not nearly as exciting.

Is the factory open for tours on Saturdays? I might have a 10ish hour layover in Seattle in March. :D
They recommend that you purchase your tickets online in advance to make sure you secure a spot. |

For the people in NYC who do not look at the S.P.A.M.folder, I suggest you do. The $50 Dodge Visa Card is easy. I used dealer code 45074 (Brooklyn Dodge)and it worked.

In IAH Pclub family room. What a zoo. Feel sorry for the clean up crew esecially after precious child smushed lays in water and then proceeded to get it eerywhere while oblivious parents ignored child.

I went on a Saturday this past January. The factory was a little quiet, but it was still very much worth the visit, IMO. The tour takes about an hour and a half and then there is also a small museum on site that can be done in under half an hour.
They recommend that you purchase your tickets online in advance to make sure you secure a spot. The Museum of Flight Restoration Hanger: www.museumofflight.com/restoration Cost: Any donation amount There is a comet jet under going restoration there and a few other commericial planes. Warbirds Flying Heritage Colletion: www.flyingheritage.com Cost: $12 or $10 if bought with Boeing tour ticket Mostly warbirds and is a stop on the field tour from the Boeing Museum site. Both take about an hour. All these are on the same field as the Boeing factory which is an hour to an hour and half north of the field I believe. |
