That is what I figured but thought I would check.

It is indeed my duty to play golf and relax. Until the yob thing straightens itself out, the rest of my '09 travel is undecided.

Morning, Box.

Depends on the flight. Some go back to only 8A with a gap to the wing exit.

I'm really torn on the positioning for these BWI-SEA flights. For good arrival/departure times, Amtrak wants about $160 (for less desirable times, about $130) and CO will fly me down there for about $165. My other option is to drive it, but I'm not so sure I want to drive home from BWI after a weekend of flying.

I have until about 12:45 to decide...

I don't know why I'm thinking about this. On the west coast, do they celebrate New Year's at their midnight or when the ball drops in Times Square? Or do they party twice, 9 PM and midnight. or do they get a delayed telecast? Just pondering.

You have way more time to decide on the positioning flights... You just have to decide today if you're going to actually do the run or not. Positioning details can come later.

I'm not sure what they do on the west coast, but I celebrated NYE in the Chicago area a few years ago and the TV stations showed the Times Square ball drop at 11:00 CST. Then, at midnight they do their own lame celebration in Chicago. They were off on the countdown by a few seconds - it was pathetic.

This is true, but if the positioning is going to kill the deal then I'm going to back out of it today. Worse case, the price (with positioning) will come up to the price of the good PHL runs.

Maybe I just need to let the FM nerd in me take over and go with it (BWI-IAH would be a new line).

I'm doing the same. April is a long way off...

Regarding ALCO not going to the DO, that's antisocial behaviour if you ask me!

It'll cost you 6k OnePass miles (moved through Amtrak Guest Rewards) for the train segments. To steal from the MAD Magazine covers of old, "6K - Cheap!"

I am holding a trip beginning 2/5 from BWI and will need to travel NYC to BWI too. Might you by chance traveling on this date too?

Hang on, there's someone here, beside ALCO, whose not going to the DO?

Yeah...it is a new line for me, too. Six times. :p

There's a delayed telecast out here. I live east of SF and people flock to the city for New Year's.

Don't you have to transfer in 5000 mile increments? I don't want to waste 4000 miles.

No, I'm going in early March. The DO is in early February!
