Right now CO is showing lots of availability out 4/22 back 4/27 (albeit most of it to PBI) for $249 all in.

Remember that PBI is only a 45 mile drive to FLL and MIA is even less. Since I am assuming that you will rent a car (you really cannot exist down here without one), any one of the three airports should be satisfactory.

Plus, they have a FLL-RDU-JFK routing on E190s, so I'd get another type on my list.

Hold out for CO to drop fares or just book? And even if CO matched the fares would you take the B6 flights for the routing/new plane type?

I should note that there are a TON of flights for the $219 rate so it doesn't seem likely that they will all disappear in the near future.

EQM/LFM or FM? That is the question. I say wait for CO. B6 is nice to fly, but is meh on rewards.

Maybe ConciergeMike should time his FLL "duty" visit to coincide with the Freddies and the Mod Do weekend that is going to produce nonstop parties down here.

Has anyone noticed 1A being taken on the ERJs by non-elites. I have noticed being booked well in advance of when it usually was. I was talking with an agent tonight and she said she didnt see it as an Elite Seat. Was't this once held for elites only?

I can tell you that in 2003 and 2004 as a non-elite I booked 1A quite frequently at the time of ticketing. I don't think it's necessarily held for elites.

Anyway, how is it that you know the passenger sitting there isn't elite?

Correct. I will be spreading the word of  to the fine people of Panama during the DO.

You still get a :rolleyes::rolleyes: and a :td::td::td: from me on that one.

The agent told me so. I always thought that all A seats to the exit row were saved for elites.

1A is a pretty lousy seat, so I assume that is why non-elites can book it.

I'd rather pay $60 more for the flight than two extra nights of hotel and rental car, so there is also that to consider. I think I will hold off for a little bit longer and hope fares drop.

Your mentioning of PBI raises another point to me - I've not flown through there yet. I may be looking at a EWR-PBI//FLL-RDU-JFK routing to mix points and dots/lines.

I'd rather have 1A than almost any other A seat, other than 12A. In 1A there's nobody reclining back into you. The problems with that seat are no storage, it's about half an inch narrower than the other seats, and it gets very loud and cold up there. But I'd still rather sit there than most of the other A seats because of the lack of a seat in front of you.

These are some of the same reasons I like it too. Another issue that seems to come and go on the ERJs and CRJs is the arm rest. This last flight on the ERJ the FA said that the arm rest had to be in the down position the entire flight. I haven't flown many in the last couple of months so didnt know if this is the latest from the FAA or just this FA?

I'm already 100% on my booked flights for 2009. So far I've only purchased Y fares.

Just the FA. The armrest has to be down for takeoff and landing only as far as the FAA is concerned.
