Memo to all those concerned: should you ever find yourself in Walgreens after having purchased the wrong item, heretofore be advised that you fall under "Code 3." I thought I bought two bottles each of shampoo and conditioner, and upon opening the bag several days later I see that it's four shampoos. OK, fine, exchange. The pubescent humanoid that was more concerned with flashing the bling of his high school ring and counting his 12-hair mustache had to page the store manager to do a retu...er, Code 3.

I wanted to see if AA was still flying ATRs between LBB and DFW and sure enough they are... May have to make that trip just to add the equipment type.
The seat maps at AA.com are really improved, too bad I probably will only fly them if I have to. |

As soon as the crosswind component gets too high across the 4-22's, it's over Johnny. EWR (unlike JFK) doesn't have that usable cross runway to switch the sequencing over to as long as you're dealing with anything larger than a 737.
Over the years I have been on EWR 29 in DC-10s and various other heavies both departing and landing. I also have been under a 777 coming in as I drove up the Turnpike. If you think a 737 looks impressive swooping down just over your head, imagine what the heavy looks like. You just know that the roof of your car will not support it when it lands on top of you. |
The 29 approach is pretty cool to look at when they come in as if headed for 22, then swing left over the bay, circle right and head for 29. What's even better is when you see a line of aircraft headed for 22 and only some of them do this! The best views of this that I've seen are IMHO from the Turnpike driving south near the Pulaski Skyway.

Corrected I stand and  indeed to a heavy using 29. I just checked the runway lengths again and I can't imagine the pucker factor for crew and pax alike when there's only 6800 feet to work with. Seems kinda SXM-ish.

... hey, I need to know how I'm doing when I race the SQ345. |

xyzzy, too much time on my hands combined with FlightMemory has led me to realize that you are sharing a ride to the Do with my mother and cruisr. Look for two blondes snorting while they laugh. |

I've caught myself doing this more than I care to admit.
I've also been guilty of trying to race certain aircraft. :D |

I, too, spend more time than I should looking at EWR from the Turnpike -- but I've not tried to race. I know I'll lose  |
My favorite look at EWR is when the approach is from the south, maybe about a half hour before dusk...the string of nav lights on the Turnpike visual always makes me go :D

Oh, random CO shareholder value news: said mother was incorrectly charged $30 for bags on an itinerary ticketed pre-fees. Result? a $50 cert. I'm only cranky over it because it was me that didn't get the cert.

So, where are all the NorthWelta defectors? I imagine we'll be seeing quite a few coming our way in the next few weeks, as it fully sinks in that their airline has tossed them under the bus. January is an excellent time for telling naughty airlines to stick it.

Lots of US folk felt that way, as well. If DL keeps it up, I'm pretty sure there will be some significant attrition
Aside from that, due to the massive reach that the system now has and the very high rate of upgrades for top tier flyers, very few of them will be going elsewhere. I would guess that a Platinum on NW gets upgraded three or four times for every once a Plat gets the UG on CO. And DL is probably at least twice as good as CO in that respect. However, as a defector from US, I can vouch that since that takeover by HP, the amenities, comfort, service, and miles earnings have gone into the toilet. The only things left are the lovely CP Angels and the 100% domestic upgrades into seats that HP has diminished in comfort by reducing pitch to the lowest among the six (check that, five) big domestic carriers. My flight on that airline last week has led me to vow "no mas." It is the end of an affair. |

I first noticed this on 9/11 a few years back when I was looking at the towers of light. :( |
