Since moving from the cold weather a few years back, I have zero interest in returning.

Speaking of cold weather, I am currently in DC and while it is nowhere near as cold as say EWR/LGA/JFK, it is cold for my blood which left 78 degree sunny weather down in PBI.

Wow, I go out to a couple of Christmas parties last night, come home late, go to bed, get up this morning to catch up on a day's worth of FT, and discover CO crashed a 735 at DEN last night. And I've flown that plane at least once, in June of this year, on BTR-IAH.

my co-workers were just telling me about this now.

A couple of my co-workers have that and they love it. Do you like the Wii Fit? I still haven't been able to track one down for a reasonable price.

Glad to read that most everyone made out ok on CO1404. The couple of critical injuries are interesting.

23 degrees here with a wind chill of 3. And it's snowing again. To pull snow off my roof or not, that is the question.

That was exactly my thought this morning when I saw a couple emails from CO about this flight.

Crazy thing is Friday while traveling I had this random thought that was along the lines of "It certainly has been a very long time since CO had a major accident." I know they had a couple of write-offs in the mid/late 1990s — a practically brand new 735 that ran off a runway at GDL on landing, a DC-9 at IAH that belly flopped on the runway landing with the gear up — but the last really major one was back in the 1980s at DEN. And now this, which so far appears to be pretty severe.

They say bad things, accidents in this case, happen in threes. Two more to come. :( CO's off the hook for the next two if there's a slight bright spot to that theory for CO flyers.

The famous "they" says, Lighting doesn't strike the same spot twice, therefore you're safe. ;)

Eh, that's just people being superstitious. This was the first domestic US airline accident involving a mainline carrier since 2005, when WN ran a jet off the runway at MDW in a snowstorm. Nothing else happened after that. In 2006 there was the Comair CRJ crash at LEX, followed by nothing else until last night. It's been since 2001 that there was a domestic accident involving mainline that resulted in passenger or crew fatality (the one fatality in the 2006 WN accident was a passenger in a car hit by the plane).

Any reason? I'll be down there later this evening.

In a move that can only be described as magnificently stupid, I misread the fine print on my Budget rental. I was very proud of myself for finding a premium car rental for $462 for 16 days to drive from SAN to IAH for my wedding. Because we pick up the car tomorrow evening and leave Tuesday morning, I was going over everything again when I found this small piece of information:

Vehicles may only be driven in California, Airzona, and Nevada.

 $%&*#$%*!#$%@#$%%*@#$%@#$%@#$.

I cannot believe I missed that when I made the reservation four months ago. I had to switch over to Avis which (surprisingly) had the lowest rate of the car rental firms available at SAN. New rate for a preimum car for 16 days: $879

My stupidity just cost me $417. Makes me wonder what else I've missed...

Actually, it is warmer than that today. An absolutely glorious day with almost no clouds or wind and a temp of 80+. I'm not moving out of here for the next two weeks. :D

Our DSM-IAH flight is delayed over an hour which will leave us with about 20 minutes to taxi, get off, get over to C and board the flight to EWR.

Looks like we might end up spending the night in Houston...
