$700, you say? I should consider purchasing refundable tickets to TLV during major Jewish Holidays.

Seen it listed more than once on bumptracker.com, and I just tried to go there and look for incidences of HKG, but their database appears to have contracted a case of .

A Bump on that route would likely entail Significant $$$. Research your options in advance and see what you might be able to score as a reroute. Personally, I would aim for a carrier in a different alliance (like CX or NH ex-JFK). That way, you can claim original routing credit on CO, and snag a pile of miles on another alliance, as well. Plan possible alternatives in advance, and suggest them to the GA if they are seeking volunteers. It never hurts to ask.

CX and NH would require him to be rebooked out of JFK for the next day as those flights leave before CO's EWR-HKG

ETA : I hit the "More Is More Multi Quote Button "

I don't think there's a way for him not to lose a day since it's the East Coast we're talking about.

Aren't there some late-night departures from the West-Coast that could be connected to? I would imagine Transcon loads will be light on December 26. Perhaps an EWR-SFO-HKG routing might work?

If he does that, could he still claim EWR-HKG original routing and get EQM's for the transcon flight? That would make even the more extraordinary mile whores stand up and applaud.

I don't see why not, especially if EWR-SFO is done on UA Metal. ;)

Doesn't he travel to a Festivus party somewhere?

And why does the spellchecker here not recognize Festivus?

He's not a traveler, and the hedge fund he works for is currently unwinding so there is a lot to do before year end. I've only seen him once since Thanksgiving weekend.

How many people here have volunteered for bumps, been the first to do so, and then have the agent take others over you?

If they have, did you push to get the VDB for yourself?

This happened yesterday and I am out a $350 voucher, CO paid for one person to fly AA, and overnighted another person and flew them out today on CO metal. I would have just gotten into OKC very early this morning at no cost but the voucher. Something tells me I need to get a little more pushy with the bump chances. I should also mention that I was in FC so I am thinking that it may have factored into not getting the bump as the two other people didnt seem to be people with status.

Does anyone know if being in FC lessens your chances of a VDB?
