Ditto. I couldn't get the upper deck in either direction on my AKL fare mistake run on UA, so I'm still an upstairs virgin. :(

Wow, I'm done with work several hours early today.

The 744 is one of my favorites. I didn't get my first ride on one until about 2004, when I took a ride with VS in Y, followed shortly thereafter by KL's combi AMS-IAH (also in Y). Since then, I did everything I could to stick to premium cabins on 744s:
UA F x1 UA C x1 LH F x3 TG F x1 TG C x1 Fantastic flights, all of them. |
I haven't been a 747 virgin in a long time. Spent many a flight on the lower deal of CO's 747 when it was the real First Class cabin and some time on the upper deal when it was the real Business Class. I've even flown UA's upper deck from DEN to HNL as a real passenger.
When UA received their first 747-400, I took a tour of that aircraft and spent some time in the tail crew rest area. Very cool space. |
Back in February, I managed to secure TWO SaverPass Rewards on Virgin in Upper Class :D:D:D. They were booked for October on the 747 ^, but then they had a schedule change and the aircraft was changed to the A340-600 :(. I was really looking forward to flying in the upper deck on the 747. A month or two ago I needed to change the dates for my London trip to March, and I could not believe it, but the first dates I picked out had SaverPass availability on VS and I booked it, just before that ridiculous $150 change fee went into effect. However, the new flights in March are also on the A340-600, not the 747.
So now, somehow my mission is to get myself into the front cabin of a 747 in 2009. |

Shoot me a PM if you want to do a mini box DO. My schedule is kinda nutty with work, but I can break for a beer - or 5.
Anyone else in the SoCal area then? |
I've flown UA alot; so I've spent quite a bit of time on the upper deck; the only time I've been in the lower deck was when I'd fly first. Back when BR had first; they had first in the upper deck which was great - my favorite upper deck experiences.

I've only had 4 trips on a 747:
LAX-MEL on QF upstairs. SYD-LAX on QF upstairs. AMS-JNB on KL downstairs in the nose. JNB-AMS on KL downstairs in the nose. All of these were great flights - QF was my first-ever business class flights. On AMS - we got the cool ceramic houses - all of which are sitting here in my home office. |
I get to fly to JAN again this weekend.

For all the National renters in The Box - you might want to check out this thread for a Visa code that is giving some very interesting rates.
The deal is officially dead and National has adjusted the price on reservations made with this coupon. The 2 reservations I made with this coupon have gone up in price (one of them by over $70) and I received no notification from National! :td: |
My assistant just sent a spreadsheet to a client she shouldn't have. I'm about to lose it.
