I was just looking at that - great fares; my problem is we have to be in LA on Christmas so it doesn't work out. I was able to pull up some R fares for other dates with shorter turn around times. Of course it's much higher. I'm also considering a Y up fare IAH-EWR-LAX-IAH (She's never been to NYC and I think she's now old enough to enjoy at least a few of the sights for a couple of days) which would net around 9k EQMs and then I could just do one of her other IAH-LAX fares to H and I think she'd be okay if I did a quick IAH-SAT or AUS flight. But Europe would be more fun!

At that point it certainly isn't binge drinking any more, but it also might not be alcoholism. Then again, the 20 pounds I dropped when I quit my job and quit drinking so much suggest that the binge drinker every night bit is a problem of some sort. Who knows?

That was quite a conversation! I think if you binge drink every night, it does become more difficult to function, so it may fall into alcoholism; but I am no expert. Definitely a heavy subject though. One of the more interesting things about having a heart attack was that I lost my desire to drink. I'll have a drink every once in a while, but it really doesn't taste good like it used to. I'm not sure what happened, and I have a lot of bottles of wine piling up ;) I even had Krug a few days ago and could only drink one glass and it really didn't taste all that good to me :( The upside has been the weight loss.

Dude, nice! ^ I resigned from my job on Thursday and now have two weeks before starting a new job with a 27% pay increase and more awesome job responsibilities. :) I didn't hate my old job and really enjoyed working with the people there, but that was an offer I couldn't refuse. Helps pay for the wedding in January, too. :D

What is your favorite area/time of History? Amazing that AC does not have more in the education area; but I guess it shouldn't be that surprising :(

If I had to pick a specialty, I would go with North American Military History...because when taken broadly, that includes the happenings in the American conquest of the West and Manifest Destiny.

For those interested, yesterday was the 15th anniversary of the events that inspired Black Hawk Down. The "Battle of Mogadishu" was ending right about now after the combined team of Rangers and Delta Force were pinned down overnight. 18 US servicemen were killed. Actions by two Delta Force snipers (Master Sergeant Gary Gordon/Sgt. First Class Randy Shughart) resulted in the first posthumous awards of the Congressional Medal of Honor since Vietnam, and their sacrifice saved the life of a downed helicopter pilot, one CW3 Mike Durant.

Congrats to you as well. I'm hoping a similar story plays out for me in the next year or so. I really want to get out of AC and go to the Bethlehem Steel project. It's a Las Vegas Sands property, and those who have seen the Venetian know that the company does nothing that's just OK. Applications start sometime in Q1 '09, and we're hoping to be at the top of the pile thanks to my mother's friends.

I resisted the evil Apple for years... but my partner talked me into buying a MacBook Pro, and I'm hooked now. It is much easier to travel with, and I've had zero problems with it so far.

My only issue is that there isn't a Mac version of MS Money - so that's one serious deficiency for me, but there are apparently ways around that - which I haven't delved into yet.

I'm open to getting a Mac, especially for the photo/video capabilities I keep hearing about. But I know that my household will have a Mac/PC divide, as she will never convert...willingly, anyway.

Right around the corner? Too bad you (nor I) didn't travel to PRG or ARN to catch today's games. The first game starts shortly on NHLN. I'll watch it for a little bit.

Congratulations on your degree!

I also am very resistant to Mac. I have iTunes on my dell, but I burn downloaded music to a cd, and then rip it to my computer to convert them to windows media or mp3 files.

Congrats ConciergeMike and good luck on leaving AC, I am sure you will never look back. I am up in Passaic County in Northern NJ and I cannot stand it. I cannot wait to leave this place and get down to south Fla. I hate the fact that I cant go shopping on a Sunday in some parts of NJ. This place stinks.

I would have loved to - I ran the idea by my mother as PRG is easily one of her favorite cities. If I wasn't planning on walking for the degree, I might have gone.

I was in the PC side of a similar divide before. First my SO was all about Mac, and I would not touch a Mac with a ten-foot pole! Then, after seeing her issues with her Mac, and mine with my PC, I started wondering...
Finally when Mac came up with Intel procs. I decided to give it a try, since I could install Windows too. For a while I would boot up only on Windows. But little by little I used more and more MacOS X. I have not booted up on Windows for over a year now!
And if you care about portability, the Mac Air is just fantastic!
And I do not use it that much for photo and video, I am an Electrical Engineer, and do all of my work on it...

Clinicians have a DSM-IV manual which they use to help in defining alcoholism and dependency. Hope this helps you a bit.

Today is soooo not a Saturday. The foot traffic absolutely stinks, and I'm standing here trying to look interested. I'm so bored that I might go browse galleries on a.nut
