You should book a trip to Italy instead.

I'm going at the end of April for a few days. Figure I'll head up or down the coast and see a few new cities in Italy and have some fun.

Sooner or later, I will have the flexibility of time and cash to do one of the crazy trips I read about in MR Deals. 2008-2009 isn't it for me, as the whole point of making money for at least the next year is to zero out the credit cards, only to run them back up paying for all things associated with a wedding.

Nice find ^ now only if it was not on UA or in Y ;)

Agreed. But it is better than sitting around my apartment. Also, it seems that the fare might be disappearing right now, but hard to say for sure.

If CO have more MR deals I'd fly on them, but since they don't I end up on other metal more than not for such deals it seems.

Question for crowd: do you post your codeshare flights to FM/OpenFlights based on operating or ticketing carrier? Not sure if I should put the IAD-FCO flights under UA as the ticketing carrier or AP as the ticketing carrier.

ConciergeMike Oct 4, 2008 2:30 pm

I'm of the belief that it's operating carrier. What matters more is the paint on the aircraft that got you there.

I tried searching for that fare and didnt find it. I found fares for over $700.
I do not understand that pl trick. I just cant figure it out, but I would love to go to rome for a few hundred. I would suck it up and not even pout over not earning eqm's

Does anyone else think the font used for the Star Alliance livery planes suck? It irks me.

(Yes, I have more issues than a magazine stand.)

In other news, if anyone else is planning on doing anything chopping wood related today, please don't. I've had four consecutive calls that were related to stump pulling / wood chopping / tree pulling down. It's just one of those bizarro days. If you need me, I'll be brushing up on the squirrel attack protocol. :o

I dont care too much for the whole star livery , except maybe SQ who kept their colors on the tail .
I support controversy.

ConciergeMike Oct 4, 2008 4:50 pm

CO needs to keep the colors on the 772 tails.

The fare disappeared mid-afternoon it seems. And it looks like I will get BD EQMs for the 10K miles back and forth, so I don't even have to forgo those, though they won't be on CO.

Or just paint a 762 for the Star livery so we don't need to worry about it on the fancy planes.

Wasn't it somewhere on FT that *A member airlines have to only paint 1% of their fleet (or was it 3%?) in the Star livery, and that said paint jobs have to fly intercontinental routes? There are 26 767's between the two variants in the CO fleet, 28 777's after orders are delivered, and 58 757's, split 41/17 between -200 and -300. Surely there's enough to pick from in that pool where even frequent travelers won't see the *A paint all that frequently?

monitor Oct 4, 2008 5:34 pm

International routes? I can swear that I noticed the *A livery on a US 320.

Well maybe the "international route" requirement was satisfied by a stop like Nassau.

ConciergeMike Oct 4, 2008 6:21 pm

Rant of the day: if you are unfamiliar with a hotel property and ask for directions, and the person giving said directions IS NOT DONE F-ING SPEAKING, and you walk away, what's the point?

Well my long awaiting thrill of experiencing the upper deck will have to wait yet again. NW significantly delayed my flight and did a great job of protecting me on flights, but alas "only" on an A333. Nice seats in J and I got to poke around the pilot bunk area, but damn it I wanted the 744 today!

Making up for my lack of travel by spending more time at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. We saw Nick and Nora's playlist today; How to Lose Friends and Alienate People tomorrow; yesterday was a kids flick so point in posting but let's just say I spent more time on my Tilt than I did watching the movie. I've tried two new beers though :)
