Sitting here in a Super 8 in Dublin, VA. I was too tired to continue my drive to Houston. At least, it's part of WR now.

Was on a Q400 on Sunday (EWR-BWI). It was so bouncy I spilled some of my drink on me. Not a fun trip at all. It was my first time EVER on a turboprop. It is quieter than I thought it would be. It was still pretty loud.

Well, my ABE-EWR-CMH-CLE-ABE itinerary dropped by $70 today so I had to take the plunge and buy it. This will give me 3 new "aircraft", 1 new airport and 4 new routes! I think I have now reached a whole new level of aeronerd.

At least you're in good company. :D I'm thinking of flying DCA-CLE-LAX on Thursday instead of via IAH/EWR for two new lines. The only sucky thing is that it requires me to take a 6:45am flight.

ugh, why can't find a deal on a starwood property in SAN. Where are the $99 starpicks I always see.

At 2314

That's a tall order. You used to be able to get the Four Points for around $120 fairly regularly, but that was before they renovated. Since renovation, they aren't quite as affordable.

The HGI up in Rancho Bernardo or the Doubletree Golf Resort in Rancho Bernardo are generally around $125 or so on weekends.

On a different note. Any thoughts on LH 333 service? I was thinking of doing that to the BRU DO. I know I need to hit the FCT in FRA, but should I plan on routing through MUC and hitting the FC Lounge there?

I would imagine the Horizon Q2 config is identical to the CoCo config...

I picked 4B.

I looked at the UA config and it seems somewhat different. Hard to know, really, I guess. Maybe I'll take a tape measure along with me...

I think UA flys the older version of the Dash 8 while Horizon and CO fly the newer Q version...

I think Rancho Bernardo might be a little further than I would be willing to stay. I really want to try to stay in the immediate area and try to hit as many of the spots as I can. I am going to try to get down to TJ for the day as well.

I am not really into paying $145/nt for a 4P Sheraton, that’s what its going for on the dates I need. I did have the Sheraton Marina reserved for $110/nt using the gov’t rate until I read that the rate was for CA gov’t only, so I cancelled. A co-worker suggested I should call the manager and ask if they would honor it rather then loose the business, but I doubt that would. I might just end up booking a hotwire hotel if I can find a 3.5-4 star for about $100 a nt. I have two weeks before I arrive, so I am sure I will figure something out, if not I guess I will just book the 4P Sheraton for $145.

I am glad I got in on the national car deal posted up thread. I had enterprise on hold for $103. so for $13 more, I will be able to rent from national and participate in their one, two, free promotion for the free weekend rental in 2009. That should come in handy for LAS.

It's not really that difficult to get downtown, especially on the weekends. I live in Rancho Penasquitos, just south of Rancho Bernardo, and it's mostly Marriott on the 15 coridor. There is a Springhill Suites and a Residence Inn one exit down on Scripps Poway Parkway that are fairly nice and new ($119 SP, $129 RI) and up in Rancho Bernardo there is a Courtyard for $115. SAN is a rough town for hotel deals, so anything in that $120 area seems pretty reasonable. It gets worse as you move toward downtown or the coast.

HA! I always get the weirdest cars when I rent from SMF with Avis. Subaru Baja anyone? (although it was better than a stupid Malibu MaXX.)

Why oh why did I come into work at 6am? Oh. Right. Worldwide conference calls and it's easier to make the East Coaster come in at 6 instead of making our SIN colleagues stay past 6.

Those are painful. Though I always insisted that I would just call in from bed, which worked pretty well. Until that one time where I fell asleep and the next thing I remember hearing was "If you'd like to make a call, please hang up and try again". Good thing I was on mute and didn't need to participate on the call. ;)

I've done that before. And I've also fallen asleep during these calls. My favorite is when I'm on the west coast and have to call into these at 4am.

My SBH has today off () so I didn't want to subject her to the call. Our apartment is about the size of an jungle jet lav. so there's no place to hide / be quiet.

Plus, she has no clue what I do (I don't really either, for what it's worth) and listening to me talking about the projects I'm in the middle of would just create questions that I really can't/don't want to answer.

The LH 333 service is excellent altho I have only used it in C class. Also, the MUC guys that I know say that the FC lounge is very nice but not up to the caliber of the FCT in FRA. That one is not to be missed and for NYers, it is really good since you can come in to FRA earlier in the day and there is a nonstop to JFK around 5PM so it is easy to consruct a 5-6 hour layover. Plenty of time to enjoy the FCT. :D ^

For all the National renters in The Box - you might want to check out this thread for a Visa code that is giving some very interesting rates.

Awesome. That just saved me a bundle for my week-long rental at BTV. ^
