Any of the ATLers been to Philips Arena? Need help picking Thrashers-Devils seats.

I was there for a Hawks game in Jan 07. We got a box. There was an aisle between the box and the stands; it was strange to me. Plus the game sucked. Not particularly useful in helping you find seats, but that's the way life is some times.

ETA: Be sure to pick up your US Open 2014 merch.

Oh I'll play at least once :)

now to top off a good week, dinner at the Palm

Golf and the Palm - the perfect combination. Has the 4th Palm in Manhattan opened yet? I know they announced a site down by Javits. I believe they're naming it "Palm Downtown" in keeping with the One, Too and West convention.

I remember reading something about buying a full-Y ticket to who-cares-where, clearing security, and then going to the gate and asking to be de-boarded. Ticket refunded and past security. Not sure if this still works.

I desperately want to get out to Coeur d'Alene. But for some reaons, fares to GEG are astronomical every time I look. PHL-IAH-SEA-GEG and GEG-SEA/PDX-IAH-(CLE optional)-PHL is somewhere around $650. EWR is almost always worse. Even WN with a much simpler routing is around $500. What's the deal with GEG?

I don't think someone out there could pay me to go to a basketball game. Seen the Harlem Globetrotters twice - they're great. But the pros? Meh. Hockey is where my action is forevermore.

Was the story useful? No. ;) But when was usability ever a key feature of The Box? :D

But Javits has nothing to do with being downtown.

Yup. No need to go to the gate; just call in and cancel the flight or have them do it at the PC. Does the pass get you a guest or do you have two passes??

I went out there for a wedding a few years back and it wasn't horrible, but we flew NW via MSP. Try that to see if there are better fares that way.

On the way home from a party at some of my wife's coworkers tonight we found a random plaster bust on the street. It is now sitting in my living room and will be in our back yard on the morrow. I have no idea what compelled me to pick it up and carry it home (maybe it was the bottle of wine I had at the party), but here it is.

I am shocked, shocked I say, that there is not a link to a picture of said bust in the above statement.

I seem to remember reading an announcement that they were building near Javits, but thepalm.com lists the new opening as New York - Tribeca. I'm now  as well.

EWR/PHL-MSP-GEG....hmmm. I can't stand nwa.com, but anything is worth a shot to play that course. Thanks for the tip.

Never mind...it's at 200 Chambers Street, right across from Goldman Sachs. Supposedly according to an IBB turned up by Google, the Bozzis and Ganzis are leasing at $150/sq. ft. No wonder the cocktails are $12.

It's been a few years since I was in Coeur d'Alene but I traveled from SFO to GEG via UA.

My sister use to live there and she told a very interesting story. Her bank was on one corner, the Skin Heads met at the other corner coffee shop, the other corner restuarant contained the Neo-Nazis and the FBI had the other corner for their stake out.

Still want to visit? It is beautiful there.

Me too.

By the way, anyone remember that carousel horse I found under similar circumstances a few months ago? It apparently ended up in the Dominican Republic!

I'm in a certain number of FBI surveillance photos anyway - I used to have some married to the mob in my family, and I attended several funerals where the van down the street had the black curtains.

But yeah, to get back to the original point...the golf course at the resort is way too good to pass up. The 14th hole alone is worth the trip, not unlike getting to play #17 at Sawgrass. NW yielded much better fares than CO.com, so that's probably the option I'll end up using, if and when I ever go. It's not at the top of the list.

ConciergeMike Sep 19, 2008 10:07 pm

100% EQM fares on NW made the price shoot up past CO.

I flew NWA for the first time last night on a MR to ABQ. I was in Y from LGA-MSP and F MSP-ABQ. I dont really keep up with the pitch/legroom/width between different airlines/airplanes but I believe I had more room in NWA's Y than I do in CO's Y. While they only offered a beverage in Y I really liked the snack box idea they do in F during non-meal time flights. I prefer that over a cold plate any day. NWA's F seats sucked though as I litterally had more leg room in the Y bulkhead than I did in F with the persons seat reclined all the way in front of me.

$12+ cocktails are more common than uncommon in the city.
