Yeah, that is a pretty high level of suckitude. I figure most of my issue is that I am not local to almost all the jobs I applied for. I really can't start looking for work in AUS in earnest until I have an address there. Much higher chance of success, me thinks.

I've talked to people who refuse to set foot in the country for vacation when in reality the problems are at the border. The news is not interested in telling the truth of the matter or accurately telling the story. They are selling fear.

You are not going to get any argument from me. It's the manglers... err managers/editorial higher-ups who determine what stories to cover. I think whatever stories they put up to get people to watch is what is good for them. It's all about how many eyeballs are watching the TV screen, especially 25-54 demographic. Fear mongering is apparent during the winter when the weathermen scream about the next Storm of the Century™.

HECK YEAH! :D

Can't remember whether I've told this story (I have NOT been around this place long enough to be losing my mind like that!), but my office-mate is a die-hard Yankees fan and actually got offered tickets to today's game, but felt too guilty about skipping work to go (his kids were *not* pleased at his conscientiousness). So he had the game on MLB Live on his computer and we watched all afternoon. It was quite enjoyable.

...and then came the seventh inning, and it got better. ;)

I thought that was CO 1E? Or someone else...certainly not Hartmann.

Oh, Delta.com, how do I hate thee? Let me count the ways…
  1. I search for BWI-LAX on April 23 by schedule, with "All Day" selected for the time. It only gives me options departing before 12:00 Noon. If I tell it to search in the afternoon, I get flights departing anywhere from 8:00 AM-4:00 PM — afternoon flights are there, but so are ones that are clearly morning flights. And I get plenty of options that didn't exist in the "All Day" search.
  2. I run the same search by price and get an entirely different list of flights, but instead of the 15-20 choices that I got when searching by schedule, I get about 5-10 choices, ranging from around 6:00 AM to around 4:00 PM departures.
  3. Flights that I know have seats available on them and are valid connections won't show up unless I set the time on the search to the hour of the departing flight I want. And even then they still might not show up.
  4. Using the multi-city search feature to try and force a connection to a particular flight causes the price to TRIPLE versus when that same connection randomly shows up in the search by price with no multi-city itinerary.
  5. It's the only site I know of that a search by schedule doesn't have any option whatsoever to see the price until you've completely built the itinerary. And then if you don't like it, you just have to click "Start Over."
  6. The in-flight amenities link on flights loves to randomly say "None" for food and IFE when I know good and well that every DL 767 has some sort of IFE, and I know from personal experience that the ATL-LAX flight I'm trying to buy has buy on board food in Y.

I may live in Delta's HQ city and fly out of its largest hub every week, but I'll continue to avoid them as much as I can. This flight wasn't even for me; it was for my partner's sister. Yet I spent hours today wrestling with that site trying to get an itinerary that I knew was an option to work out.

It is certainly lame a great deal of the time. However, all I do is buy my tickets on it after researching at the likes of ITA and Kayak. If you've done the proper research you don't often get caught with the wrong fare at the end and need to start over.

As ssullivan posted, sometimes you need to try to pinpoint the flight that you need in order to construct the itinerary which you want. Maybe with the help of some IT guys from NW they will be able to bring that site up to date.

Yeah, but as I experienced today, just finding the flight that you know exists on there so you can buy it can be a major ordeal.

And yes, I hope they use NW's booking engine over the DL one, but NW's isn't that great either sometimes. I've had issues with it not showing me all of the options too, which seems to be worse since the merger. But it's still a thousand times better than DL's site.

Yikes

Next time try ice to freeze the marshmallow or you could just eat it.

Not as cheap as it was last spring, but beach destinations have been tempting me recently.

Not bad, but very tempting and even more so with the HNL rev-up program. A trip to HNL on CO with the DEQM promo would put me at 1K if CO had a 1K. :p

Is this the bugger I'm drunk thread?

I've spent the evening on the sofa surrounded by parents.

My mom just made me clean my computer screen.

I asked her for a refill on my wine glass - told her I mistook for the waitress :o
