Is anyone turning back the clock and flying FLL-MIA?

I was once scheduled to fly EWR-MIA-FLL but when we arrived in MIA the MIA-FLL segment was delayed several hours and since we needed to catch a cruise, I asked the GA to drop that segment from our reservation so it would not be cancelled. Purchasing EWR-MIA-FLL was about $150 cheaper at the time than flying directly into FLL or MIA from EWR

My "story" tonight is about why people are so interested in the youtube video of the woman who is on Britain's Got Talent. Is that really newsworthy in the USA? No, but apparently one of the managers here is pushing the story on us, thinking "everyone" is talking about it. He's a big fan of American SchmIDOL. I want to quit so badly, but the job market is putrid and I need to help support a family. I know I'll be playing Mega Millions this week.

That is a "story" better suited for digg.com and the web. It seems that the news stations feel a need to build in the internet, commenting, blogging, twittering into their shows at least once a night. They read comments of viewers and talk about "tweets". It's obnoxious and almost makes me embarrassed to say that I work in the web industry.

CNN is by far the worst culprit of this. I agree - it is embarrassing.

Exactly.

We have local stations here that do it, except they do not know all of the terms and struggle with the teleprompters, making the whole thing end badly.

That reminds me that I once was on a flight that went MCO-MIA-FLL. It was so long ago that I had forgotten about it but now I think that it was on a defunct LCC named Florida Express that flew all BAC-111s and hubbed in Orlando.

Baglady Jr is a fiend for marshmallows. I can't wait until she's old enough for me to show her Ghost Busters.

There are few times where I would say "I probably would have just driven ..."

Yes indeed. Very well said.

Yes, MSNBC is a brilliant, unbiased news source.

According to those who run the newsroom there, it is. I personally think it is nothing more than a leftist propaganda machine. Hell will freeze before Olbermann books a guest that disagrees with him at all. That's two-pronged: A) he probably can't hold his own in the arguments without insulting and demeaning the other side, and B) he has a massive self-confidence problem as a direct result of (A).

Patently false. MSNBC is simply the liberal version of sensationalist Fox News.

All of the news outlets are sensationalist, and that is nothing more than a byproduct of the news becoming a 24-hour business cycle that became ratings-driven. It might also have something to do with the political correctness-driven dumbing down of America. I genuinely believe that bias and sensationalism are mutually exclusive. Business motivations drive sensationalism, while slanted newscasts (to either side) are the result of editorial boards or executive committees.
