I've packed a fair amount and just need to go through my office (shut up, Plus1) to get all the misc. crap to take.

I do need to run by the cleaners tomorrow because someone (no names, Plus1 ;)) left the bag of cleaning on the grill. Hmmmmmmmmm.

Excuse me for saying but you don't sound very relaxed tonight after a two hour massage.

LAX is always like that. No matter what you're doing.

I'm highly tempted to schedule myself for a massage on Thursday, since I have a day to kill in the LA area between my last day of my client visit tomorrow and the arrival of my partner and sister in law here late Thursday night.

The past few trips I've taken I've just declared that I'm staying on EST. I had to wake up at 5:15am (MST) this morning and tomorrow, 5:45. If I tell myself I'm on EST then it's really not all that bad. Seeing as I'm waking up at these odd hours, my body can't really tell that I'm not home. I do the same thing when I go to Europe for less than 3 days.

In other news, it's always 'ing in NJ.

I disagree. IMO they are the worst. Their aircraft are falling apart, many of their crews are just plain hostile, much of their ORD and IAD hubs are disgraceful, and fairly soon you will see for how long the average PC member will be happy to sit in an RCC.

I haven't encountered a hostile UA crew member since last May. Since then I've flown UA on about a dozen flights. Out of about two dozen flights last year on UA, I only had 2-3 bad crew members. Now, I had many more issues with gate and ticket counter agents who were very hostile.

I've never had any issues with connecting on UA at ORD. IAD, on the other hand, is just a dump, and a huge hassle to deal with.

As for the planes, they are getting better. The UA planes I've flown this year have all been very clean and looked well maintained. I really think they've turned a corner with the interiors of their fleet, and are doing a much better job of routine cleaning on a daily basis, and deep scrubbing more regularly. CO and DL still do a better job of it, but I'm seeing fewer and fewer ratty UA planes.

Mainly because of the forum. I have previously said that I would try UA upon joining Star, and I will. If my opinion is changed, so be it. I don't like the attitude that the UA FT population at large puts out, and I enjoy bringing them down a peg where possible.

My thought process is irrational, and I will reverse it if given good reason to do so.

I could go back to sleep for nearly two hours and still wake up with two hours to make it to work. And at night my body's urge to stay up well past midnight is minimized, as midnight here is 3:00 AM back home. As a result I'm feeling more rested than I have in weeks. I'm falling asleep easily before midnight, and getting a full 7-8 hours of sleep/night. Often I'm up until 1:00-1:30 AM, and dragging myself out of bed around 7:00.

I do the same when working in California!

Thanks for the advice. We're dealing w/ Avis. I hope they're good to deal with in incidents like this. I had an issue where someone in Israel hit me w/ an Avis rented car, and I never had any issues with them. I will give them a call and see if I can drop off the rental to an Avis nearby instead of at the airport. I am about 25 miles away from the airport.

Well Chase/Avis/CO do have a relationship so hopefully that helps!

Congratulations! I have been booking more for myself than others lately. There are rummers that my parents want to pay for a trip to LAS for me to be tour guide. It is very tempting to go home and see my friends there!

I am excited to say that I will be leaving town in less than 36 hrs!!! Been two weeks and I already have the shakes!

monitor Apr 21, 2009 8:33 pm

I will admit that I have not flown them since May of last year when the ps RT that we had in first was almost an out of world experience. Nothing worked, either mechanical or human, the IFE was broken, the food was about the worst that I have ever seen on an airplane in first class, and the airplanes were grubby and appeared to be held together with duct tape.

Since I need to take them again next month, this time all the way to Oz, I will have a report right after Memorial Day on both their international and ps services.

E+ is that cat's meow.

When I was going through my US divorce I considered all airlines and how they stacked up against my travel habits and what they offered. CO made the most sense on paper but I was really resistant to it. Why? Because I despise the Northern Jersey crowd that are a bunch of CO fanboys (and girls). The people I work with who pledge allegiance to CO are people you don't want to be sitting next to. I was under the impression everyone that flew CO was like this, and I'd want to gouge my eyes out.

I really don't like NY/NJ and when I travel it's my sanity check. I didn't want to deal with an airline that had the NYC 'tude.

After lurking on the CO FT forum for a while I finally did a recon mission down to SAT and I realized that CO is actually a Southern airline. Outside of EWR the crews are great, the service is consistent, and it met my needs. And I can deal with EWR.

Here I am a couple hundred thousand miles later and I laugh when I think about my bias against CO. It was completely irrational.

Now, if only CO would implement E+ I'd turn into a full fledged fan-boy.

If you are concerned about the keyboard, they normally cost under $20 and very easy to replace (heck even I can do it!) . Suspect the trackpad is also but I haven't priced one of those.

If you are concerned with the rest of the system, save your money and get a new laptop. After 3 years, it's about time. :D
