I have a trip this weekend (PIT), need to get to OMA the next weekend, KOA in mid-may, WAS in June, and then absolutely nothing planned / pre-planned for the rest of the year. Only 7,000 miles from platinum, that "problem" will be rectified.

Hey Box!!

Missed y'all for the past 1.5 weeks or so, but I've been pretty swamped on this latest run, with barely enough time to keep up w/AM. I did try catching up on the Box twice, but gave up when the last page was moving further away than I could read the posts... But I did miss the lot of you miscreants and the daily poop allotment.

Right now more than half-way through a 2-week (mostly) S.American romp...

BOS-MEM-LIT-ATL-MCO-PTY-SCL-PTY-BOG so far, with a BOG-MDE (Medellin) day trip tomorrow, followed by a BOG-IAH-FLL-CLE-BOS run home on Sat.

At least I'm getting some good new FM lines and airlines. :) C:rolleyes:pa last week, and Avianca tomorrow.

We still love you, but there is no excuse for falling down on the box.

Enjoying DEN up till now. On I-25 the windshield of my rental was hit w/ something large. There is a big crack and a little bit of the windshield shattered and came into the car. We're okay. The car isn't. I turned down all the optional insurance, but paid for the rental w/ my CO MC World. I want to turn the car in tonight and get something else. It is a hazard driving like this. Options? Opinions? Advice? Thanks.

It gives you some protection, but not like the AMEX plat which I believe others have already said. Yikes, so sorry and glad you are all okay, which is TRULY what matters.

This is so foreign to me. I have NEVER had a laptop work that long. 1 year and I'm done. Box, please tell me to go and get my Acer tomorrow which I am planning to do. Right choice, yes? WWTBD?

I once had late/lost/waylaid bag at LAX that I knew to be at UAL baggage claim. I wanted to talk to somebody there to hold it so I could pick it up myself. Of course I couldn't find a phone number for UAL at LAX.

So, I Goggled around and found a 310 area code number for one of the foreign airlines. I called that, asked them to transfer me to UAL baggage claim and voilą, Christmas was saved.

The UAL folks were a little  on how I a passenger got transferred to them by alls well that ends well.

#1, don't check bags that contain nice gifts for Baglady. I believe that is in the COC.

#2, don't give credit to UA because it was CO that really came up to the plate (CO lost the bag, gave it to UA; tried to get it back). The guy at LAX CO Baggage was ^

Hmm, so true. I must say at 15:30 I did. By 18:25 I was not. 2 large glasses of champagne later, closer to my 15:30 state of mind ;)

My laptop hits the three year mark in July, so I can't relate ...

My seat the other day on the KLM Fokker  with 2-3 Config was self-reclining and the guy behind me was very upset about it .

If you are concerned about the keyboard, they normally cost under $20 and very easy to replace (heck even I can do it!) . Suspect the trackpad is also but I haven't priced one of those.

Dell just sent me all the parts under warranty. The trackpad was a pain, but I got it all replaced.

If you are concerned with the rest of the system, save your money and get a new laptop. After 3 years, it's about time. :D
I'm mainly concerned about the HDD, but that's less than $100 these days so I think I'll save my $ for now. The machine is a Latitude D620, which I have to say I've been rather pleased with.

I'd like to respond but esteemed council has recommended that I exercise my 5th Amendment right not to incriminate myself.

How do you tote around that brick? There's a reason our laptops are the same age (precisely the same model). And indeed it's largely functioned well (except the two HDD failures in the first three months). I got to borrow an 820 last week, which was even larger.

Don't I know that. :(

But going to those games is a habit that I have not been able to break.
