The rental agency, Alamo, refused to rent me another car because I had damaged this one. Since then, I've only rented from Alamo once -- when I got them via Priceline. I don't think Avis has the same policy, but you might want to check before you turn the car in.

I learn so much from reading these FT threads. Thks for the heads up about Alamo -- don't rent from them usually, but rent regularly from National. I know they are part of the same co. - but are the policies the same, in general? I always assumed that one pays more for National to get more service & flexibility. I use the AMEX Plat rental car insur. policy.

The SYD in J thread is muy interesante - would even consider going the long way on SQ.

USA-SIN-Oz rewards on SQ require redemption as USA-SIN + SIN-Oz. Not a great use of miles.

The reason he posted the HNL/OGG 739 thing before I did and why I had to RBP myself. :o

Air Bob's unfair action does not grant the right to reciprocate.

I don't know why I tease myself thinking about this - it's not like I fly for business and have this unending stream of miles to work with - I'm just trying to scrape out enough for Asia up front once, and I'm only about 40% there.

My incident was over 10 years ago. I have no idea whether they have changed their policies. I still vote with my wallet, though.

That is not the case. You can redeem JFK-SYD on SQ as one award.
It is actually a good deal for 180K RT in C for the amount of flying done.

Good call. Thankfully I have not injured a rental car to the point that it ever needed to be returned. The one time that I was involved in a rental accident of any kind, it was my mother driving and the vehicle was so scratched up (Hertz at ATL) that we didn't even bother to report it.

Is the 180K price affected by whether or not they are KF miles that are being used for the redemption, and it's still true that EWR-SIN is available, no?

With SQ KF points but not with UA MP points, right?

Aloha box. I'm very behind in this thread, and it's only going to get worse over the next few days.

Just wanted to pop in and say "hi".

Hyatt gave me 800 points for one of their hotels overcharging me by $100 and not even having the decency to return my phone calls (staff member accepted my gift check and then charged me the full room amount after I left). No more Park-n-Fly for me
