Well, the reality is, how quickly could they move off of Shares? It would be like moving a glacier.

Obviously a lot has to be done to integrate CO into Starnet, and it could just be referring to that.

You could become a training specialist and get paid to travel, teaching people how to do what they used to know how to do in the old/new vernacular. We went from a product that worked to a Sungard-provided one 2.5 years ago and still receive training.

If US is any credible indicator, their transition from Sabre to Shares took about a year of planning and still hasn't been fully executed.

That was one of the biggest IT migration disasters of this decade in my humble opinion. I have complete confidence CO will do it better (I could have...), but it is not a simple task.

I think that if they put their minds to it, the change could happen pretty fast. There is enough time between now and Oct 24 to make some major changes.

The boys downtown have had alot of time to get this stuff planned out.

Maybe I should pay my friends at UA alittle visit and get a copy of their cheat sheets for their computer system, Apollo.

US outstations connect to their network via AOL 1.0 Dial-UP

Shares is the old CO system so I think you're getting them confused.

Besides, that was US, they can't do anything right. :D

There have been rumblings that LH and possibly UA were developing an Apollo 2.0....

I'm not at all familiar with UA's Apollo to become a teacher. I could teach people how to use Shares, if that's the system that they select, but only for Gates. I still need help for ticketing since I rarely do it.

I think I'll go look for that old name tag that says "Agent in Training". :D

Believe it or not, I'm right. US migrated from Sabre to a GUI of Shares called QIK.

When US employees were ranting about how terrible the system was management kept saying "but CO uses it, and they function just fine." The trouble wasn't so much with native Shares, but with the GUI US overlayed.

That and the aol 1.0 dial-up, and the help desk that never helps.

ETA - yes HP ran Shares and forced US East to move over to it. I could write a book about what a disaster that was.

There was a time that HP used Shares. We, at CO, could sine into the HP system and work. I have no idea what they use now.

At EWR their name tags read: " in Training"

See, I wish I could get a job with CO and manage new system rollouts like that. It sounds like a very challenging job.

You should send someone at CO your resume, if this is the stuff you do for a living. We'll need all the help we can get.

The last new system that CO rolled out was EZR. That was to replace Shares and only 3-4 cities have it, after almost 10 years of working on the rollout.
