UNDER CONSTRUCTION
NOTE: The 15 A330-200 (with Rolls Royce Trent 700 engines) are being retained and updated. (The nine Pratt & Whitney equipped A330-300s have been scheduled for retirement (return to lessor at lease end) by late 2018 due to poor "fit" in the AA fleet (link).) The A330-200s will continue, however, and the launch of the retrofitted A330-200 will see
- 20 Zodiac "Envoy" type Business seats in a 1-2-1 layout (1 blocked for pilot rest)
- 21 Premium Economy (B/E Aerospace) seats in a 2-3-2 layout
- 50 Main Cabin Extra seats (same seats as Y, just greater seat pitch) 2-4-2 (2 blocked for customers requiring customer assistance)
- Main Cabin / Economy seats also 2-4-2
- Ku band satellite based Panasonic WiFi
- Individual personal entertainment screens for every seat
- Seat power
- Noise reduction headsets - Bose in Business, others for Premium Economy
Premium Economy and extended Main Cabin Extra has been installed on the A330-200 fleet. Until 15 Jan 2018, PE seats were available to Elites as MCE on those aircraft with PE; PE are available for sale on that date.

What would be the best seat in J for a solo traveler?
From my research, it appears seats 1A/H has maybe a window and a half for looking out. I think 2A/H has at least 2 windows.
1A/H may have noises/lights from the galley/restrooms but it is a day flight for me from BCN to PHL so that shouldn't be an issue.
Which would you choose?
Thanks!

I wouldn't shy away from row 1. And for privacy, window seats are great throughout the cabin - they all have direct aisle access as well. This configuration is actually pretty good for privacy overall, though less so for traveling couples. But most folks are traveling alone in business, so this was almost certainly the right priority.

How is the video monitor at 1H? Is it angled like the seats behind and swivels out or is it fixed at center? I think 1A/H seats are at an angle with feet toward the windows. I guess I plan to spend a good amount of time watching movies.
Thanks!

I will say that the screen is slightly smaller and farther away from you than the swivel screens in rows 2-5.

Thanks for the photo! Would you still take 1A/H over rows 2-5?

Flying with American Airlines A330-200 in October from PHL to MAD.
1) Are seats 7G/7H the best seats for economy class?
2) How about the bulkhead seats in row 6C/6D/6E/6F? Are they better than the ones in row 23C-F?
Thanks in advance to anyone who reply with information about these seats.

Both issues are discussed in this thread.
- Some folks swear by them -- especially if you are not real tall. Others -- I'm among them -- are taller and thus less enthusiastic about bulkhead seats.
- My view is that these seats are cruddy. The bulkhead is closer than in 7G/7H.

Biggie Fries,
Sorry for asking another question.
When you state "the bulkhead is closer than in 7G/7H", you mean the bulkhead is closer to the seats in Row 6C-F than in 7G/7H, thus making 7G/7H to have more leg room compared to seats in row 6C-F, correct?
Thank you for your time and attention. Much appreciated.

Right -- 7G and 7H have more leg room. Plus -- even more important -- you don't have folks crawling over you in the middle of the night (on your way to MAD).
If 7G and 7H are available, grab them. I tend to prefer 7C, the "C" because there is a forward lavatory on that (port) side, whereas the starboard lavatory on the starboard side, in front of 7G, is supposed to be for the J passengers, the non-bulkhead because I prefer to stretch legs and feet (to the extent I can) under the seat ahead rather than twisting them against hard bulkhead. But that's just me.
As for row 23, I hate the wait to get off, and -- if you don't have Global Entry -- you now have a built-in line on your way home.
Finally, be aware that MCE on an LUS plane does not mean the same thing as on an LAA plane. There is not (necessarily) more leg room.
All this said, I actually like row 7 in an A330-200. If you are a pair, and you grab 7C and 7F, you will likely have the whole row to yourselves. I've done the PHL-MAD RT a couple of times this year, and it looked like that in those forward seats on all of the legs. But on any given flight, you never know....

6C-F looked good, but 7G/H are the best seats in Y.

7G/H are great and the best seats in my opinion. My wife and I flew them DUB-CLT last September. Lots of space. I'm 6' and i had plenty of room to do a full leg extension and easily move around my wife to exit from the window seat. I did used the biz restroom that is directly in front of the seats (no one was in line).
6C-F looked good, but 7G/H are the best seats in Y.
