UNDER CONSTRUCTION

NOTE: The 15 A330-200 (with Rolls Royce Trent 700 engines) are being retained and updated. (The nine Pratt & Whitney equipped A330-300s have been scheduled for retirement (return to lessor at lease end) by late 2018 due to poor "fit" in the AA fleet (link).) The A330-200s will continue, however, and the launch of the retrofitted A330-200 will see
  • 20 Zodiac "Envoy" type Business seats in a 1-2-1 layout (1 blocked for pilot rest)
  • 21 Premium Economy (B/E Aerospace) seats in a 2-3-2 layout
  • 50 Main Cabin Extra seats (same seats as Y, just greater seat pitch) 2-4-2 (2 blocked for customers requiring customer assistance)
  • Main Cabin / Economy seats also 2-4-2
  • Ku band satellite based Panasonic WiFi
  • Individual personal entertainment screens for every seat
  • Seat power
  • Noise reduction headsets - Bose in Business, others for Premium Economy

Premium Economy and extended Main Cabin Extra has been installed on the A330-200 fleet. Until 15 Jan 2018, PE seats were available to Elites as MCE on those aircraft with PE; PE are available for sale on that date.

What about the seats...has N279AY also gotten new J seats or MCE since the lighting/wifi upgrade?

I can't imagine. She was out of service for only a couple of days. I do believe that this bird is one of the ones that has had the seats in Y reupholstered and the hideous faux-wood wallpaper removed and replaced with a less 70s looking bulkhead.

Got a ride on this one last week. Everything about the J cabin interior remains the same, but the live TV (three channels) worked surprisingly well.

Add in a great crew and new catering and this made for an excellent flight. Well done.

Huh? The 757L is being fitted with B/E Aerospace Parallel Diamond seat in Business. Tablets for IFE to be sure, but I'd rather have a comfortable horizontal lie flat seat for a redeye than built in IFE that may or not work (assuming the option was the klugey, unreliable Panasonic system also used in thecA321T).

I'm currently at the Admirals Club at ORD. Out the window is A330 at the "H" Concourse. I didn't know that the A330 are now flown out of ORD! Any one know where these aircraft are flying to from ORD? Not sure if it is a 200 or 300 model.

It'll be a -200, on the ORD-DUB route. The plane does PHL-DUB-ORD-DUB-PHL. Previously it was rotated out of CLT but CLT-DUB is now back to 752 equipment for the off season.

Edit: looks like it's N293AY today- the newest A330 in the fleet.

That'd be ORD-DUB.

Is there still only one A332 with wifi? Any updates?

I'll be on one tomorrow, I'll try to get at least 1 more data point.

My flight CDG-PHL on 11/28/16 didn't have wifi but it had the new seat covers. Business still had the faux light wood look.

Refreshed J cabin

Currently sitting in F (J) on N289AY CLT-PHX- plane just got out of the hangar this morning and the entire cabin is refreshed...new seat covers, carpets and that nasty faux-wood bulkhead in J is now standard AA gray. A nice change, and it smells like a new plane.

I took some pics at boarding and will post later.
